Qualifications

  • Degree in Electrical Engineering or related discipline.

Responsibilities

  • Lead HV safety governance and compliance with regulations and procedures.
  • Authorize HV switching, isolation plans, permits and testing sanctions.
  • Oversee access, isolation, earthing and arc flash controls for HV assets.
  • Oversee maintenance, testing and return-to-service activities for electrical infrastructure.
  • Support preventive and major maintenance programs and outages.
  • Lead fault analysis, investigations and root-cause assessments.

About the Role

Airswift is partnering with a leading global engineering and project delivery organisation to recruit a Project Engineer - Electrical supporting major renewable energy assets across Victoria. This is a critical operational and technical leadership role responsible for the safe operation, maintenance and reliability of high-voltage electrical infrastructure across renewable generation assets. Working between the Melbourne office and operational wind farm sites, you will provide technical oversight of HV switching, outage management, asset maintenance, fault investigations, commissioning activities and network safety compliance. This role offers a unique opportunity to combine office-based engineering with hands‑on field leadership within a growing renewable energy portfolio.


Key Responsibilities


  • Lead HV safety governance, ensuring compliance with relevant electrical safety regulations, industry standards and operational procedures.

  • Authorise HV switching activities, switching sheets, isolation plans, permits and testing sanctions.

  • Manage access, isolation, earthing, arc flash controls and safe approach requirements for HV assets.

  • Oversee maintenance, testing and return-to-service activities across electrical infrastructure.

  • Support preventative, condition-based and major maintenance programs.

  • Lead technical investigations, fault analysis and root cause assessments following system events and equipment failures.

  • Develop and implement corrective actions to improve asset performance and operational reliability.

  • Support outage planning, execution, commissioning, re-energisation and emergency response activities.

  • Drive reliability improvements, lifecycle planning and asset optimisation initiatives.

  • Coordinate contractors, operations personnel and technical service providers during maintenance and outage activities.

  • Provide technical support during after-hours incidents, outages and network events as required.


About You


  • Degree qualified in Electrical Engineering or a related discipline.

  • Demonstrated experience working with HV and LV electrical systems within utilities, power generation, renewable energy or industrial environments.

  • Strong understanding of HV switching, operational safety and electrical asset management.

  • Experience supporting maintenance, commissioning and operational activities across critical electrical infrastructure.

  • Ability to work autonomously and make sound engineering decisions in operational environments.

  • Strong communication, stakeholder management and problem-solving skills.

  • Experience working within wind farms, renewable energy assets or power generation facilities would be highly advantageous.
