Job summary

WSP in Australia is seeking an Electrical Engineer (HV/EHV) to contribute to major transmission and substation projects across the country. You will work on projects from 132kV to 500kV, delivering top-quality design and construction support while collaborating with experienced engineers.

We value a degree in Electrical Engineering or Power Systems and 4–8 years’ experience in HV/EHV, with a proactive, team-oriented mindset.

Qualifications

• Degree in Electrical Engineering, Power Systems, or related field.
• 4–8 years' experience delivering HV/EHV substation, transmission, or power infrastructure projects.
• Experience in transmission, utilities, renewable energy, or power sectors.

Responsibilities

• Contribute to design and delivery of HV/EHV substations and transmission projects from concept through detailed design and construction support.
• Prepare engineering calculations, technical studies, specifications, and design documentation.
• Develop substation layouts, equipment arrangements, and primary design deliverables.
• Undertake technical assessments including conductor sizing, busbar sizing, short-circuit studies, and equipment selection.
• Support design reviews, construction activities, commissioning, and project delivery phases.
• Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams, clients, utilities, contractors, and stakeholders to achieve successful project outcomes.
• Work with senior engineers to develop innovative and practical engineering solutions.
• Contribute to a culture of technical excellence, collaboration, and continuous improvement.

As our Power & Energy team continues to grow, we're seeking an experienced Electrical Engineer (HV/EHV) to contribute to major transmission and substation projects across Australia.

Working on projects ranging from 132kV to 500kV, you'll play a key role in the design and delivery of critical energy infrastructure while collaborating with experienced engineers and technical specialists on some of the country's most significant power projects.

What You'll Do

• Contribute to the design and delivery of HV/EHV substations and transmission infrastructure projects from concept through to detailed design and construction support.
• Prepare engineering calculations, technical studies, specifications, and design documentation.
• Develop substation layouts, equipment arrangements, and primary design deliverables.

About You

You're a motivated electrical engineer with a passion for power systems and energy infrastructure, looking to further develop your technical expertise on complex and nationally significant projects.

You'll Bring

• A degree qualification in Electrical Engineering, Power Systems Engineering, or a related discipline.
• Approximately 4-8 years' experience delivering HV/EHV substation, transmission, or power infrastructure projects.
• Experience working within the transmission, utilities, renewable energy, or power sectors.
• Demonstrated experience preparing engineering calculations and producing design documentation.
• Exposure to one or more of the following:
• Conductor and busbar sizing
• Short-circuit calculations
• Lightning protection design
• Lighting design studies
• Substation equipment layouts
• High-voltage equipment specifications
• HV cable sizing and associated calculations
• Strong communication skills and the ability to work effectively within multidisciplinary project teams.
• A proactive attitude and desire to continue learning and growing your career within the power industry.
