Job summary

BMI International Pty Ltd – Collingwood VIC is seeking an entry level Electrical Draftsperson / Contract Admin to join the team on a casual to permanent basis, providing administrative support across industrial and commercial projects. The role involves preparing project documentation, SWMS, O&M manuals, and maintaining records.

Proficiency in AutoCAD and Microsoft Office, plus knowledge of Australian electrical standards, are preferred for applicants currently completing a Cert III in

Qualifications

• Currently completing your Cert III in Engineering or Electrical Drafting (or similar) – students welcome to apply.
• If you have your electrical licence this would be an advance.
• Are you a pre-grad student looking for casual to permanent work.
• Ability to read and interpret architectural and engineering drawings - with working knowledge of Autodesk AutoCAD.
• Strong attention to detail including numerical accuracy, organisation and time management skills.
• Confident communication with subcontractors, suppliers and internal teams.
• Ability to manage multiple projects and competing deadlines.
• Knowledge of Australian Electrical Standards, including AS/NZS 3000 wiring rules and AS/NZS 61439.

Responsibilities

• Providing administrative support in preparing project documentation, correspondence for field staff.
• Preparing and maintaining SWMS and project compliance documentation.
• Completion of O&M Manuals, including as-built drawings.
• Maintaining project records and document control.
• Interpret Single Line Diagrams and Mechanical Electrical Schematics and Specification to develop designs.
• Liaise with managers regarding design approval and changes during project pre-start and early construction, in addition to creating as-built drawings at completion.
• Design documentation including but not limited to block diagrams, single-line diagrams, termination diagrams, schematics, switchboard layouts, mechanical equipment layouts from client specifications and datasheets.
• Raising purchase orders, ordering project materials, monitoring deliveries through our job management system Aroflo.
• Strong Microsoft Suite skills, particularly Excel, Outlook and Word. Experience with AutoCAD.
