Job summary

Logical Resources is seeking an Electrical Design Engineer for data centre projects in Australia. You will design HV/MV/LV distribution, UPS systems, standby gensets and switchgear, from concept to energisation, coordinating with mechanical and architecture teams to ensure constructible, testable designs.

The role requires a degree in Electrical Engineering with CPEng/RPEQ considered advantageous, plus experience in data centres or mission-critical environments and a solid grasp of redundancy

Qualifications

• Degree in Electrical Engineering; CPEng/RPEQ preferred.
• Experience designing electrical systems for data centres or other mission-critical environments.
• Strong understanding of redundancy topologies (N+1, 2N, distributed redundant) and Tier/Uptime principles.
• Working knowledge of AS/NZS 3000 and related Australian Standards.
• Experience with ETAP, PowerCAD, DIgSILENT or AMTECH, plus Revit/BIM coordination.
• Commissioning or site exposure is valued.

Responsibilities

• Design HV/MV/LV distribution, UPS, standby generation and switchgear systems for large-scale data halls.
• Take design packages from concept through detailed design to IFC, coordinating with mechanical and architectural teams.
• Carry out power system studies, including load flow, fault level, protection coordination and arc flash.
• Work with in-house commissioning team to ensure designs are buildable, testable and maintainable.
• Involve in site visits, witness testing and integrated systems testing as projects reach completion.
• Build strong relationships with clients, contractors and network providers.

I'm partnering exclusively with a specialist engineering consultancy that designs and commissions mission-critical facilities for some of the biggest names in the data centre market. With a strong pipeline of hyperscale and colocation projects secured, they're looking to add an Electrical Design Engineer to their growing team.

The role

• Designing HV/MV/LV distribution, UPS, standby generation and switchgear systems for large-scale data halls
• Taking design packages from concept through detailed design to IFC, coordinating closely with mechanical and architectural teams
• Carrying out power system studies, including load flow, fault level, protection coordination and arc flash
• Working alongside the in-house commissioning team to make sure designs are buildable, testable and maintainable
• Getting involved in site visits, witness testing and integrated systems testing as projects reach completion

What they’re looking for

• A solid grasp of redundancy topologies (N+1, 2N, distributed redundant) and Tier/Uptime principles
• Working knowledge of AS/NZS 3000 and related Australian Standards
• Experience with tools such as ETAP, PowerCAD, DIgSILENT or AMTECH, plus Revit/BIM coordination
• Commissioning or site exposure is a real plus, but a genuine interest in it is just as valued
