Job summary

MidCoast Council is seeking an Electrical Coordinator to lead our Electrical and SCADA team and support reliable electrical, instrumentation, telemetry and control systems across water and wastewater operations.

You will oversee maintenance programs, contractor performance, fault response, and continuous improvement while fostering a safe, productive team culture in the MidCoast region.

Qualifications

• Electrical trade qualification and current Qualified Supervisor certificate.
• Electrical contractor licence or ability to obtain/maintain one.
• Significant experience in industrial electrical maintenance, ideally in water, wastewater, utilities or critical infrastructure.
• Experience working with SCADA, telemetry, PLC and industrial control systems.
• Demonstrated leadership or supervisory experience within a technical work environment.
• Strong planning, problem-solving and decision-making skills.
• Experience managing contractors and coordinating maintenance programs.
• Strong communication and stakeholder relationship skills.
• Current Class C Driver Licence.

Responsibilities

• Lead, supervise and support a team of Electrical Technicians and SCADA specialists.
• Coordinate planned and reactive maintenance activities across electrical and control system assets.
• Ensure the safe, efficient and compliant operation of electrical, telemetry and SCADA systems.
• Provide technical guidance and support for complex fault-finding and operational issues.
• Monitor asset performance and identify opportunities to improve reliability and efficiency.
• Coordinate contractors, suppliers and specialist service providers.
• Contribute to maintenance planning, budgeting and resource allocation activities.
• Support the delivery of capital works, asset renewals and improvement projects.
• Maintain compliance with relevant legislation, standards and Council policies.
• Foster a positive team culture focused on safety, accountability and continuous improvement.
• Participate in incident response and provide operational support during emergency events.
