Job summary

Armcor Air Solutions in Melbourne is seeking an Electrical & Controls Engineer to drive electrical design, PLC and DDC programming, and the development of advanced HVAC products.

You will collaborate with R&D, mechanical engineers, and service teams to deliver energy-efficient automation solutions across commercial and industrial HVAC projects; the Beijer Ref Group backing provides global support.

Qualifications

• Degree in Electrical Engineering, Mechatronics, Automation Engineering, or related field.
• Experience in electrical control system design.
• PLC and/or DDC programming experience; strong fault-finding.
• Ability to read electrical schematics and control drawings.

Responsibilities

• Design electrical and control systems for AHUs and HVAC equipment
• Develop electrical schematics, panel layouts, wiring diagrams and documentation
• Program and configure PLC and DDC control systems
• Develop HVAC control strategies and sequences of operation
• Integrate sensors, actuators, VSDs, controllers and networks
• Support factory acceptance testing and product commissioning
• Troubleshoot electrical and controls issues during production and testing
• Contribute to new product development and R&D initiatives
• Develop standardised controls solutions across our product range
• Work closely with production teams to improve manufacturability and product performance

Electrical & Controls Engineer | HVAC Automation & Product Development

As part of the Beijer Ref Group, one of the world's leading refrigeration and HVAC organisations, we combine local expertise with global support to design and manufacture advanced air handling and HVAC systems.

The Opportunity

This is not your typical engineering role.

You'll be involved in the complete journey of our custom HVAC products, from electrical design and controls development through to programming, factory testing, commissioning and new product development.

Working within our Product Management & R&D team, you'll collaborate with Mechanical Engineers, Refrigeration Specialists, Production Teams and Service Personnel to develop innovative electrical and control solutions that deliver real customer value.

Key Responsibilities

• Design electrical and control systems for AHUs and HVAC equipment
• Develop electrical schematics, panel layouts, wiring diagrams and technical documentation
• Program and configure PLC and DDC control systems
• Develop HVAC control strategies and sequences of operation
• Integrate sensors, actuators, VSDs, controllers and communication networks
• Support factory acceptance testing and product commissioning
• Troubleshoot electrical and controls issues during production and testing
• Contribute to new product development and R&D initiatives

What we’re looking for

• Degree qualification in Electrical Engineering, Mechatronics, Automation Engineering or a related discipline
• Experience in electrical control system design
• PLC and/or DDC programming experienceStrong electrical troubleshooting and fault-finding skills
• Ability to interpret and prepare electrical schematics and control drawings
• Understanding of industrial automation and control systems
• Experience with VSDs, sensors, actuators, relays and control panels
• Strong communication and stakeholder engagement skills

Highly regarded

• HVAC or AHU controls experience
• BACnet and Modbus communications knowledge
• AutoCAD Electrical experience/Siemen’s software programme
• HVAC commissioning experience
• Product development and R&D exposure
