Job description

Electrical Construction Manager

Brisbane | $170k-$200k + Package

We are partnering with an established Tier 2 Electrical Contractor seeking an Electrical Construction Manager or Senior Project Manager wanting the next step up to lead and grow its Queensland Construction business.

Based in Brisbane and reporting directly to the General Manager, you will take responsibility for the operational, commercial and financial performance of the construction division, with a clear mandate: build a high-performing team, deliver projects successfully and drive the next stage of business growth.

Your opportunity

This role brings together strategic leadership, operational management, commercial accountability and project delivery. You will oversee a portfolio of electrical installation projects ranging from approximately $100k through to $4-5m, ensuring projects are delivered safely, on programme, within budget and to the expected standard of quality.

Working across commercial properties, major construction environments and Tier 1 clients, you will lead the division from tendering and project award through to procurement, installation, commissioning and final handover. You will have the autonomy to shape how the construction division operates, develop its leadership capability, strengthen project delivery processes and identify opportunities to expand the business's construction footprint.

  • Business performance: Take ownership of the construction division's P&L, budgets, forecasts and financial performance, with a strong focus on revenue, gross margins, cost control and cash flow.
  • Project delivery: Oversee a portfolio of electrical installation projects, ensuring successful delivery across programme, budget, quality, safety and client expectations.
  • People and leadership: Lead and develop Project Managers, Project Engineers, Supervisors and operational support staff, building a culture of accountability, collaboration and performance.
  • Commercial management: Maintain oversight of project financials, variations, claims, procurement, subcontractor agreements, cost-to-complete reporting and contract negotiations.
  • Operational management: Establish effective systems and processes across project planning, resource allocation, labour utilisation, procurement and project execution.
  • Client relationships: Build and maintain relationships with key clients, builders, consultants and stakeholders, ensuring the business remains a trusted electrical construction partner.
  • Business development: Identify new project opportunities, strengthen existing client relationships and contribute to tendering and estimating strategies to secure profitable work.
  • Safety and quality: Drive a strong safety-first culture and ensure all projects meet relevant electrical standards, compliance requirements and company quality expectations.
What you will bring

You are an established electrical construction leader who understands how to run projects, develop people and manage the commercial performance of a contracting business.

You can move between the strategic and operational sides of the business, providing direction to your management team while maintaining an understanding of what is happening across the project portfolio.

You know how to build capable teams, manage competing priorities, make commercially sound decisions and maintain strong relationships with clients.

You will have:

  • An electrical trade qualification and/or relevant electrical engineering background.
  • Significant experience within the commercial electrical construction industry.
  • Previous experience leading an electrical construction division, state operation or substantial project delivery team.
  • Demonstrated responsibility for P&L, budgets, forecasting and overall business performance.
  • Experience overseeing multiple electrical installation projects, ideally ranging from smaller works through to projects valued at $4-5m.
  • Strong commercial acumen, including project financials, variations, procurement, subcontractor management and cost control.
  • Proven ability to lead, develop and manage Project Managers, Engineers and Site Supervisors.
  • Strong understanding of project planning, resourcing, installation, commissioning and handover.
  • Established relationships across the electrical construction industry, including builders, Tier 1 contractors and commercial clients.
  • A strong understanding of WHS requirements, electrical compliance and quality management systems.
  • Excellent communication, leadership and stakeholder management skills.
  • A current driver's licence.
What's on offer?
  • Salary: $170k-$200k + package, dependent on experience.
  • Leadership: Take ownership of an established Queensland construction division.
  • Influence: Report directly to the General Manager, with genuine autonomy to shape the operation.
  • Project diversity: Oversee a varied portfolio of electrical installation projects valued from $100k to $4-5m.
  • Career opportunity: Play a key role in the ongoing growth and development of an established Tier 2 electrical contractor.
