Job summary

R N Baker Switchboards in Dubbo, NSW, is seeking an Electrical Apprentice to learn the craft of switchboard manufacturing in a factory setting.

You’ll assist tradespeople, conduct wiring, busbar assembly, and testing, while training at TAFE toward a Certificate III in Electrotechnology. We value teamwork, reliability, and a safety mindset, with eligibility to work in Australia.

Qualifications

Responsibilities

We are seeking suitable applicants for the position of an Apprentice Electrician to work alongside our skilled tradespeople in the construction of high-quality electrical switchboards. You'll contribute to a variety of projects across Australia, ensuring our products meet the highest standards of quality and functionality.

Job tasks and responsibilities

The role of Electrical Switchboard apprentice is predominantly factory based.

Applicants must be motivated, enthusiastic, able to work within a team and take direction. The successful applicant's will be trained and educated to perform primary duties including:

• To assist trades persons in the construction of electrical switchboards & their associated protection Control and mechanical components
• Electrical circuit wiring
• Making and installing custom busbar systems
• Functional testing of completed projects
• Supporting our manufacturing team to achieve delivery goals whilst under the guidance of tradesperson

Skills, Experience and requirements

This position will be based on the applicants capabilities, enthusiasm, ethics and presentation. Whilst experience in the electrical industry is favourable, it's not necessary, however, it is essential that the applicant does have an employment history of some kind.

Some light manual handling will be part of your daily tasks therefore a basic standard of physical fitness is desired.

Applicants must be motivated, enthusiastic, able to work within a team and take direction.

Applicants must;

• Be Confident using or learning trade specific tools and machines.
• Be able to work both autonomously and in a team environment
• Hold a current Drivers License
• Have a constructions white card
• must speak clear fluent English
• Have a Police background check or able to complete one
• Be able to pass a pre employment medical assessment, including Drug and Alcohol testing

You must have the right to live and work in Australia with no work restrictions to apply for this job.

Successful applicants primary duties shall be to manufacture electrical switchboards, their associated protection, control and mechanical components whilst under the guidance of experienced, licenced electricians.

Successful applicant shall also be required to carry out trade skills training at TAFE for associated certificate III in electrotechnology.

The role of apprentice electrician is predominantly factory based but may require some short term periods of external "field/off site" work as per the requirements of trade skill training.
