Job summary

Seek.com.au Brisbane, QLD 4000 is seeking a Trades Assistant - Switchboard Building to join our growing team. This full-time role supports electricians in design, assembly and installation of switchboard systems on-site and at our facilities, delivering hands-on experience across diverse projects.

You will learn from experienced tradespeople, follow drawings and safety protocols, and contribute to timely project delivery while developing practical skills toward formal apprenticeships.

Qualifications

• Year 11 or 12 schooling or equivalent.
• Genuine interest in trades, electrical work or switchboard building.
• Basic understanding of electrical concepts and safety principles.
• Strong attention to detail and ability to follow technical instructions accurately.
• Good hand-eye coordination and dexterity for assembly work.
• Ability to work as part of a team and take direction from experienced tradespeople.
• Reliable, punctual and committed to on‑the‑job learning.
• Willingness to undertake relevant training and certifications as required.
• Valid driver’s licence preferred for site-based work.
• Working towards or holding a nationally recognised electrical/trade-related qualification is advantageous.

Responsibilities

• Assist qualified electricians and switchboard builders in assembling and constructing switchboards and electrical distribution systems.
• Prepare materials, components and tools required for switchboard projects.
• Follow drawings, specifications and work instructions for accurate construction.
• Conduct basic testing and quality checks under supervision.
• Maintain a clean, organised work area and proper storage of materials and equipment.
• Support installation and commissioning of switchboards at client sites.
• Assist with cable management, labeling and documentation of switchboard systems.
• Adhere to workplace health and safety requirements and protocols.
• Contribute to a collaborative team and help deliver projects on schedule.
