Job summary

The Network Technology Recruitment is seeking an experienced EL1 Full Stack Engineer to join a major Federal Government technology program in Canberra. You will design, build and support cloud-based applications and APIs in AWS, leading development with Golang, TypeScript and Python within an Agile team.

You will develop scalable cloud solutions, craft IaC with Terraform, manage containers with Docker/Kubernetes, and implement CI/CD pipelines using GitHub/GitLab.

EL1 Full Stack Engineer - Federal Government Contract: Initial 12 months Clearance: NV1 Level: EL1 Full Stack Engineer

We are seeking an experienced EL1 Full Stack Engineer to join a major Federal Government technology program delivering and supporting complex, business-critical digital systems.

This is a senior hands-on engineering opportunity suited to someone with strong AWS, API development, Infrastructure as Code and DevOps expertise who can operate independently while providing technical leadership within an Agile full-stack team.

The Role

Working within a collaborative multidisciplinary environment, you will design, build, deploy and support applications, integrations and cloud-based solutions. You will contribute across the full software development lifecycle while helping ensure solutions meet architectural, integration and engineering standards.

Key responsibilities include:

• Design, build, deploy and support complex systems, applications and integrations.
• Develop scalable cloud solutions within AWS environments.
• Build complex APIs and backend services using technologies including Golang, TypeScript and Python.
• Develop and manage infrastructure using Terraform and Infrastructure as Code (IaC).
• Work with Docker, Kubernetes and Helm for containerisation and orchestration.
• Develop and maintain CI/CD pipelines using GitHub/GitLab and associated DevOps tooling.
• Participate in technical design, development, deployment and ongoing code maintenance.
• Undertake peer code reviews and maintain strong engineering and coding standards.
• Develop automated unit, component, integration and functional testing.
• Collaborate with QA teams on integration and end-to-end testing.
• Engage with business and technical stakeholders to define requirements and priorities.
• Provide technical leadership within Agile project teams.

What We're Looking For

To be successful, you will bring strong hands-on engineering experience across:

• AWS infrastructure and cloud services, including designing and managing scalable cloud solutions.
• Full SDLC delivery, from technical design and development through deployment, code review and long-term maintenance.
• Terraform / Infrastructure as Code.
• API and service development using Golang, TypeScript and/or Python, including REST and GraphQL.
• Docker, Kubernetes and Helm.
• DevOps and CI/CD, including GitHub/GitLab, Artifactory, Jira and HashiCorp Vault.
• Automated testing across unit, component, integration and functional levels.

Highly regarded experience includes React and TypeScript, WCAG 2.1 accessibility standards, PostgreSQL/MySQL, and effective use of AI development tooling and spec-driven development.
