Job summary

TAFE NSW invites applications for a Teacher of English to Speakers of Other Languages at Blacktown Campus. This temporary full-time/part-time, talent pool role focuses on igniting confidence and real-world communication in learners ready to thrive, shaping pathways and celebrating diversity.

You will deliver ESOL lessons, integrate technology, assess progress, and collaborate with teams to ensure inclusive, high-quality education that opens doors for learners and strengthens local communities.

Qualifications

  • Minimum one year post-qualification experience in relevant field.
  • Commitment to ongoing VET knowledge development and trainer competence.
  • Experience teaching ESOL is Highly Regarded.
  • Willingness to work in a diverse, inclusive environment.

Responsibilities

  • Deliver ESOL teaching to diverse learners using engaging, practical activities.
  • Incorporate technology to enhance language learning and assessment.
  • Contribute to curriculum development and student pathways in VET.

Education

Bachelor degree (AQF 7) in education with TESOL major

About You
1. Qualifications in:
  • A recognised* Bachelor degree (AQF 7) in education, with a TESOL major OR
  • A recognised* Bachelor degree (AQF 7) + a postgraduate qualification (AQF 8 or higher) in TESOL OR
  • A recognised* Graduate Diploma or higher + a postgraduate qualification (AQF 8 or higher) in TESOL

* From an accredited Australian Higher Education Institution, or a qualification recognised as equivalent to the stated AQF level or higher by the Australian Government Country Education Profiles (CEPs) tool

2. Have a minimum of one year post‑qualification experience in industry relevant to your qualifications, gained no longer than five years previously.

3. Hold evidence of the required teaching qualification to deliver Vocational Education and Training (VET). See the candidate support document here for details.

4. Be prepared to continue to develop their Vocational Education and Training (VET) knowledge and skills as well as their industry currency and trainer/assessor competence.
