Job summary

Tarrengower Prison is Victoria's minimum-security prison for women, located near Maldon in Central Victoria. The Education Coordinator will deliver education and training opportunities to help women build skills for life and employment beyond prison.

You will coordinate vocational education, community education and distance learning opportunities with TAFE providers and education partners to ensure programs are accessible, effective and aligned to learner needs.

Qualifications

  • Excellent communication and relationship-building capabilities.
  • Experience managing operational service delivery and stakeholder partnerships.
  • Sound problem-solving skills and a commitment to continuous improvement.
  • The ability to work collaboratively in a complex and dynamic environment.
  • A tertiary qualification in education, social sciences or a related discipline is highly desirable.

Responsibilities

  • Coordinating day-to-day education operations, including timetabling classes, learning spaces, transport and technology requirements.
  • Building and maintaining strong relationships with education providers and resolving service delivery issues.
  • Supporting participation in vocational education and training (VET), community education and distance learning programs.
  • Monitoring learning plans, education pathways and learner progress.
  • Managing education records and reporting through the Justice Education and Training System (JETS).
  • Analysing data and preparing reports to support education delivery and continuous improvement.
  • Working directly with women in custody to identify education interests and support engagement in learning opportunities.

Tarrengower Prison is Victoria's minimum-security prison for women, located near Maldon in Central Victoria. The prison plays a vital role in supporting women to prepare for successful reintegration into the community through education, training, employment and rehabilitation programs.

About The Role

As an Education Coordinator, you will play a key role in delivering education and training opportunities that help women in custody build skills for life and employment beyond prison. Working within a unique correctional environment, you will coordinate education services across the prison and local community, ensuring programs are accessible, effective and aligned to learner needs.

You will work closely with internal stakeholders, TAFE providers, and other education partners to coordinate vocational education, community education and distance learning opportunities. Strong planning, stakeholder engagement and organisational skills will be essential as you manage competing priorities and support positive educational outcomes.

Some Of Your Duties Will Include
