Job summary

Digital Native is seeking an Engineering Lead for Edge Engineering in Brisbane. You will balance hands-on coding in C++ or Rust on Linux with technical leadership to deliver robust edge software and drive architectural direction.

You will mentor a product team, collaborate with a product manager, and promote DevOps practices to improve delivery velocity and software quality across sprints.

Qualifications

• Production software development experience with C++ or Rust.
• Experience developing, deploying and debugging software on Linux.
• Experience leading or guiding an agile software team.
• Strong understanding of software architecture, system integration and resilient service design.
• Experience with DevOps or SRE practices, including build, test, deployment and automation.
• Familiarity with APIs and integration technologies such as REST, gRPC, Protobuf, serial I/O or HDLC.
• Strong problem-solving, communication and technical leadership skills.
• Tertiary qualification in Software Engineering, Information Technology or Computer Science (nice to have).

Responsibilities

• Lead an agile product team in partnership with a product manager and product designer.
• Contribute hands-on to production components, services and APIs using C++ or Rust on Linux.
• Guide modular, extensible, scalable and resilient software design.
• Support delivery across development, maintenance, integration and automated testing.
• Promote DevOps, SRE, CI/CD automation, peer review and coding standards.
• Help evaluate technology and process improvements across the product development group.
• Mentor and coach engineers while encouraging knowledge sharing and continuous improvement.
• Document outcomes and develop repeatable, automated engineering practices.
