Urban Rampage is seeking an experienced and commercially minded E-commerce & Digital Growth Manager to help establish and grow our national online retail business.
We are an established Australian retail and distribution company operating nine stores across regional Northern Territory and Western Australia, generating approximately $4.5 million in annual revenue.
While our physical retail operations are well established, we see significant opportunities to expand our online sales through our existing Shopify website, www.urbanrampage.com.au.
Our ambition is to build towards $1 million in annual online revenue, with a strong emphasis on profitability and sustainable growth.
We are looking for someone who can identify commercial opportunities, develop a practical e-commerce strategy and take responsibility for implementing it.
This is not simply a social media or advertising position. We are seeking someone with strong commercial judgement who understands how to turn product inventory, website traffic and advertising expenditure into profitable online sales.
Our business sells a broad range of consumer products, including clothing, footwear, accessories, electronics, mattresses, furniture, bicycles, e-scooters, premium remote-control vehicles and homewares.
We hold substantial existing inventory and regularly import products directly from manufacturers.
Our online growth strategy has two primary objectives:
Expand online sales of existing inventory: Identify opportunities to sell clothing, footwear, accessories and general merchandise beyond our physical store network
Develop new online markets for imported products: Increase sales of mattresses, furniture, electronics and other products to improve inventory turnover and create additional demand beyond our existing stores
We are open to regional and national marketing opportunities, depending on product demand, competition, freight costs and commercial viability.
We are also interested in developing specialist online product-category presentations and sub-brands, ideally supported by our existing Urban Rampage infrastructure where practical.
We want someone who can independently assess these opportunities and recommend the most commercially effective approach.
Develop and implement a commercial strategy to grow profitable online sales
Review our existing website, product catalogue, pricing, inventory and competition
Identify which products and categories have the strongest online sales potential
Research target customers and opportunities across regional and national markets
Recommend appropriate specialist product-category strategies and online sales channels
Plan, manage and optimise Google Ads, Google Shopping and Meta advertising campaigns
Develop SEO, email marketing, retargeting and customer retention strategies
Allocate advertising expenditure based on commercial performance
Coordinate advertising content, product photography and external specialists where required
Identify opportunities through online marketplaces and other relevant channels
Improve Shopify merchandising, product listings, navigation and customer experience
Develop landing pages and improve website conversion rates
Ensure accurate purchase tracking, analytics and campaign reporting
Coordinate website improvements and integrations with relevant technical specialists
Work alongside our existing team to maintain accurate stock, pricing and product information
Monitor online sales, conversion rates, customer acquisition costs and advertising performance
Evaluate profitability after product costs, freight, fees, returns and advertising expenditure
Develop strategies to increase inventory turnover
Provide concise weekly updates and monthly performance reports
Identify which campaigns and product categories should be expanded, improved or discontinued
Demonstrated success growing online sales for physical-product retail or e-commerce businesses
Strong practical experience with Shopify or comparable e-commerce platforms
Experience managing Google Ads, Google Shopping and Meta advertising
Knowledge of Google Analytics, conversion tracking and online sales reporting
Commercial understanding of product margins, freight, customer acquisition costs and profitability
Ability to develop a strategy and take responsibility for its practical implementation
Strong communication skills and the ability to work independently
Must be based in Australia
Experience with multi-category retail or consumer products
Familiarity with Lightspeed Retail POS or similar inventory management systems
Experience with specialist e-commerce brands and product positioning
Understanding of Australian freight and bulky-goods delivery
Experience with online marketplaces, inventory management or wholesale e-commerce
Experience managing external developers, designers or advertising specialists
We value demonstrated commercial results over formal qualifications.
An established business with nine retail stores, existing inventory and supplier relationships
The opportunity to help build a significant new online revenue channel
A separate annual advertising budget of approximately $60,000, subject to an agreed strategy and management approval
Flexible part-time working arrangements
Remote working from anywhere in Australia
Direct access to business management and operational decision-makers
Support from our existing retail, inventory and operational teams
The opportunity to influence product selection, online strategy and future growth initiatives
A performance-based incentive may be considered in the future, once the strategy and measurable commercial targets have been established.
During the first 90 days, we envisage the successful candidate working with management to:
Assess our website, existing sales performance, product inventory and online opportunities
Identify the most commercially promising categories and customer segments
Develop a practical e-commerce growth strategy with measurable objectives
Implement priority website improvements and controlled advertising tests
Establish weekly and monthly reporting to measure performance and guide future investment
These objectives are intended as a starting point, and we welcome alternative approaches supported by sound commercial reasoning.
