Job summary

EVT is seeking a Duty Manager to lead day-to-day hotel operations across shifts, ensuring a smooth and memorable guest experience from start to finish. You’ll guide and support your team on shift, stepping in where needed to maintain service standards and safety on the floor.

This full-time, hands-on leadership role requires frontline supervision, rostering input, and a focus on guest satisfaction and revenue growth within EVT’s hotel network.

Qualifications

• 1+ years in a duty manager or similar role within a branded or independent hotel.
• Ability to lead hotel operations in the absence of senior management and ensure smooth service delivery.
• Strong understanding of Front Office operations, including rostering, guest arrivals/departures, and team coordination.
• Experience in managing hotel security, guest complaints, and incident reporting with a solution-focused approach.
• Skilled in driving occupancy and revenue through effective rate management and cross-department collaboration.

About the role:

As Duty Manager, you’ll lead the day-to-day running of the venue, making sure every guest has a smooth, memorable experience from start to finish. You’ll guide and support your team on shift, step in where needed, and keep service, safety and standards on track. When things get busy or something unexpected comes up, you’ll stay calm, make good calls and keep the team moving. This is a full-time role for a hands-on leader who enjoys being on the floor and bringing out the best in people.

Key Responsibilities

• Lead and oversee hotel operations during shifts and assist any department when required, ensuring smooth coordination in the absence of senior management.
• Support and supervise Front Office operations, ensuring staff presentation, punctuality, and service standards are consistently met.
• Maintain a high level of guest satisfaction by proactively resolving issues, managing complaints, and promoting a welcoming service culture.
• Monitor hotel security and safety procedures, ensuring compliance with WH&S standards and effective incident management.
• Drive occupancy and revenue by supporting rate management strategies and collaborating with key departments to maximise sales opportunities.
• Ensure effective communication across departments to support operational efficiency and guest experience.
• Assist with rostering, staffing levels, and cost control to meet financial targets and maintain service quality.
• Effectively manage staff including training, rostering and monitoring of overtime, annual leave, days in lieu, staff breaks and other staff entitlements.
• Manage cashiering, floats, tills and shift costs in line with budget, and record and report all incidents in the duty log.
• Resolve guest requests and complaints quickly and professionally, and manage the hotel complaint system and feedback log.

What You’ll Bring

• 1+ years of experience a duty manager role or similar within a branded or independent hotel.
• The ability to lead hotel operations in the absence of senior management, ensuring smooth and professional service delivery.
• Strong understanding of Front Office operations, including rostering, guest arrivals/departures, and team coordination.
• Demonstrated experience in managing hotel security, guest complaints, and incident reporting with a solution-focused approach.
• Skilled in driving occupancy and revenue through effective rate management and collaboration with key departments.
• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, fostering positive relationships across departments and with guests.
• Ability to promote hotel features and services, cultivating a strong sales culture and enhancing guest experience.
