EVT Limited in Australia invites you to join Rydges Melbourne as Duty Manager, leading the Front Office and overseeing hotel operations in the absence of the General Manager, delivering the Daymaker experience.

Bring proven leadership in a hotel setting, strong commercial awareness, WH&S knowledge, and flexibility to work weekends and public holidays. You’ll coach your team, drive guest satisfaction and help maximise occupancy while maintaining cost control.

Qualifications

• Proven experience in a hotel Duty Manager, Front Office Supervisor or similar leadership role.
• Strong leadership skills with the ability to motivate, train and develop a team.
• Commercial awareness including yields, room rates and cost control.
• Excellent guest service and ability to resolve complaints quickly.
• Experience with hotel property management systems and front office operations.
• Solid understanding of WH&S, fire and evacuation procedures.
• Flexibility to work rostered shifts, including weekends and public holidays.

Responsibilities

• Lead and supervise the Front Office team, ensuring departments are well staffed, on time, in uniform and delivering exceptional service
• Act as the hotel's ambassador, greeting guests warmly, hosting VIP and group arrivals, and resolving guest requests and complaints quickly and professionally
• Maximise average room rate and occupancy, actively promoting hotel features, facilities and upselling opportunities
• Control costs and manage rostering, overtime, cashiering procedures, floats and tills in line with budget
• Take charge of hotel safety and security, including incident reporting, crisis management, fire and evacuation procedures, and WH&S compliance
• Coach and develop your team through on-the-job training, strong communication and a positive, high-performing culture

The Role

Full time, 38 hours per week. As Duty Manager, you'll be the face and custodian of the hotel, leading the front office and overseeing operations in the absence of the General Manager.

What You'll Bring

• Proven experience in a hotel Duty Manager, Front Office Supervisor or similar leadership role
• Strong leadership skills with the ability to motivate, train and develop a team
• Commercial awareness, including knowledge of room rates, yield management and cost control
• Excellent guest service and complaint resolution skills, with the confidence to make decisions on shift
• Working knowledge of hotel property management systems and front office operations
• A solid understanding of WH&S, fire and evacuation, and emergency procedures
• Flexibility to work rostered shifts, including weekends and public holidays
