Job summary

InterContinental Hotels Group in Australia is seeking a Duty Manager based in Front Office to oversee hotel operations and deliver memorable guest experiences. You will be confident and empowered as the first responder in a crisis, leading guest experiences and team performance.

The role involves prioritising workloads, developing staff skills, and handling guest concerns with professionalism. Flexible shifts and permanent/full-time options are available.

Qualifications

Job description

The moment a guest steps into one of our hotels, they walk into a genuinely memorable experience. As the Duty Manager, you’ll deliver this by assisting in overseeing all aspects of the hotel operations, based in Front Office. You’ll also create the warm atmosphere that makes our guests feel at home in any location You will be confident and empowered as the first responder in a crisis.

Every day is different at IHG, but you’ll mostly be:

• Leading the way – managing guest experiences, team performance and hotel operations
• Prioritising workload and ensuring your team deliver authentic, memorable experiences
• Developing your team’s skills to drive results that positively impact on hotel performance
• Having authentic conversations with guests to resolve issues, queries or concerns
• Being first point of contact for any critical emergency situations

What We need from you:

• Experienced – ideally, you’ve have spent at least 2 years front desk/guest service leader experience
• Communication skills – Excellent communication, problem solving, reasoning and motivational skills; guest & colleagues will need to come to you with concerns as well as compliments, so you’ll be easy to talk to.
• Your problem-solving skills will turn issues into opportunities so every guest leaves with great memories.
• Literate and Tech-Savvy – you’ll need a good grasp of reading, writing, basic maths and computers
• Fluency in English – extra language skills would be great, but not essential.
• Working knowledge of hotel property management systems like Opera beneficial
• Flexibility– morning, night, weekend and holiday shifts are all part of the job. This role is available in a part time or full time capacity.
