Job summary

A Cairns-based company is seeking a Driller (or Driller's Assistant) to join their small, family-owned business, with work in and around Cairns on weekdays and occasional weekends.

The role requires physical fitness, ability to work outdoors in heat or wet conditions, and a current White Card with MR/LR (or HR preferred). Training and progression are possible while contributing to safe, efficient job sites.

Qualifications

• Holds or can obtain a current White Card (General Construction Induction).
• Current HR Licence preferred or MR/LR Licence minimum.
• Satisfactory pre-employment medical and a negative drug/alcohol test.
• Ability to work outdoors in hot/wet conditions and travel to remote sites as required.

Responsibilities

• Drill and assist with drilling operations for power network sites.
• Work in Cairns area, with occasional remote site travel; accommodation and meals covered when away.
• Maintain safety-first practices and teamwork; meet deadlines and plan ahead.
• Be able to work up to 12 hours a day starting at 6:00am.

Job description

Whether you are a driller looking for your next opportunity in a role that provides work-life balance, or you've got a truck driving/mechanical/diesel-fitter background and it's time to try something new, this role could be for you!

We are assisting a Cairns-based company in the recruitment of a Driller (or Driller's Assistant) to join their small, family-owned business. This company conducts power network drilling and earthing of the power network. Experience with earthing drilling work is desirable but it's not essential.

They are not a mining company, and don't do fly-in fly-out work. You'll generally be working in and around Cairns, Monday to Friday (plus occasional weekend work). You will sometimes travel to work in remote locations, but you will know in advance so you can plan ahead, and your accommodation, meals and travel will be covered while you are away.

Before you apply, you should also know that this role requires:

Outside work, which can be hot or wet and can require work in the sun in Summer.

Working up to 12 hours a day when required, including starting at 6:00am.

The ability to work and stay in remote locations for a week or longer, depending on work requirements.

Physical fitness to lift heavy items, undertake manual labouring work, and stand for long periods of time.

Satisfactory pre-employment medical and a negative drug and alcohol test.

We are looking for a person who:
