Job summary

Ventia is recruiting Cert III qualified Drillers to operate and coordinate rig activities, ensuring safety and efficiency on site at Olympic Dam. The role covers conventional or RC hammer drilling of 400–700 metre holes, with diamond drilling experience highly regarded.

This casual position runs on a 2:2 roster (flexible to 2:1 during peak periods). Ventia provides return flights to Roxby Downs, accommodation and meals on site, and ongoing training and career development opportunities.

Responsibilities

• Operate the drill rig, including site setup and loading of production/drill casing.
• Complete JHA and site inspections to ensure safe work practices.
• Maintain and service downhole drilling equipment and associated plant.
• Manage stocktakes, rig orders and loading/unloading of trucks.
• Conduct toolbox meetings and mentor offsiders.
• Contribute to a strong safety culture on site.

Are you a Cert III Trainee Driller with demonstrated drilling experience and ready to take the next step in your career?

The Role

Ventia is currently recruiting multi-skilled, Cert III qualified Drillers to operate and coordinate the day-to-day activities of the rig and ensure rig crews perform their work safely and efficiently. The Driller has ongoing responsibility for the operation, maintenance and management of their allocated rig. This role involves Conventional or RC hammer drilling of 400-700 metre holes at Olympic Dam. Diamond drilling experience will be highly regarded.

This is a casual position on a 2:2 roster, with flexibility required to move to a 2:1 roster during periods of increased workload. Ventia provides return flights from capital cities to Roxby Downs, along with accommodation while on site.

Key Responsibilities Include (but Are Not Limited To)

• Operate the drill rig, including site setup, auxiliary equipment and loading of production/drill casing.
• Complete Job Hazard Analysis (JHA), audits and site inspections, ensuring all work is performed safely.
• Maintain and service downhole drilling equipment, motor vehicles, and associated plant equipment.
• Manage stocktakes, place rig orders and load/unload trucks.
• Conduct toolbox meetings and mentor offsiders.
• Contribute to a strong safety culture and work with due care for your own safety and that of others.

About You

• Cert III in Drilling Operations with 2 years' of demonstrated experience. (Essential)
• Hold a HR Driver's Licence or be willing to obtain. (Highly regarded)
• Be able to pass pre-employment checks, including a police check and in-clinic medical (including drug and alcohol testing).
• Be safety conscious and able to work effectively in a team environment.
• Have previous labouring/offsider/driller experience and be physically fit for hands-on, physically demanding work.

Hold The Following Certificates/licences Or Be Willing To Obtain

• First Aid.
• Backhoe.
• Front End Loader.
• Class 1, 2, 3 Water Well Drilling Licence.
