Job summary

The Geological Survey of NSW is seeking an Operations Officer to supervise the E.C. Andrews Drill Core Facility in Broken Hill. The role blends field operations with core management, visitor access, and facility maintenance.

Ideal candidates will have mining/exploration/drilling experience, drill core handling knowledge, and GIS/database skills, with the ability to work remotely and in remote locations. Hybrid work is supported.

Qualifications

• Experience in the mining industry, exploration and drilling.
• Knowledge of drill core handling and operating procedures.
• Willingness to undertake field work in remote areas.
• Moderate GIS and database management skills.
• Ability to communicate effectively with diverse audiences.

Responsibilities

• Supervise and manage the Drill Core Facility operations in Broken Hill.
• Oversee core preparation, viewing, visitor access and maintenance.
• Archive drill core collections for preservation and access.
• Liaise with industry, landholders and government bodies to provide services.
• Provide drill core expertise to support exploration programs.
