Job summary

Australian Red Cross Lifeblood is seeking a Nursing Assistant at the Maroochydore Donor Centre to support donors through the donation process. Full training is provided and no previous blood collection experience is required, with a focus on delivering an exceptional donor experience.

You will greet donors, perform routine tests, operate collection equipment, and help the team meet collection targets while maintaining a welcoming environment.

Qualifications

• No prior blood collection experience is required; paid training blends hands-on practice with online learning.
• Curiosity and motivation to learn the process of collecting blood and biological products.
• Flexibility to work varied shifts on a fortnightly rotating roster.

Responsibilities

• Greet and interview potential donors to assess eligibility and suitability.
• Create a donor experience they'll love and want to return.
• Complete routine blood pressure and haemoglobin tests.
• Set up machines and collections equipment.
• Insert and remove needles safely to collect whole blood, plasma and platelets.
• Monitor donors post-donation and assist with rebooking.
