Job summary

Newcastle & District Nursing Service (NDNS) is expanding its Domestic Assistant team in Nelson Bay and Port Stephens, offering permanent part-time roles with flexible hours to suit school and family needs.

You’ll support older Australians and people with disabilities at home, performing cleaning, meal prep and transport assistance while ensuring dignity and independence in the local community.

Qualifications

• Experience in domestic cleaning, home assistance or a similar role (desirable)
• Current driver's licence and reliable, insured vehicle
• NDIS Worker Screening Check and Working with Children Check (or willingness to obtain)
• Good communication and time-management skills
• Positive attitude and enjoyment of helping others
• Ability to work independently in clients' homes

About the Role

As a Domestic Assistant, you'll support older Australians and people living with disabilities to remain independent and comfortable in their own homes.

A large proportion of our clients in the Nelson Bay area are veterans and their families, receiving support through the Department of Veterans' Affairs (DVA). You'll play an important role in helping these clients maintain their independence and continue living comfortably at home.

Your day-to-day responsibilities may include:

• General household cleaning, laundry and tidying

• Meal preparation and assistance with grocery shopping

• Helping clients maintain a safe, clean and comfortable home

• Providing friendly, respectful and person-centred support

• Assisting with community access and everyday activities where required

• Completing basic documentation following client visits

You'll be making a genuine difference in someone's day, often through the little things that matter most.

What We're Looking For

We're looking for people who are dependable, compassionate and enjoy working independently while being part of a supportive team.

Ideally, you'll have:

• Experience in domestic cleaning, home assistance or a similar role (desirable but not essential)

• A current driver's licence and reliable, insured vehicle

No previous aged care experience? That's okay!
