Job summary

Dementia and Aged Care Services is seeking a Casual Domestic Assistant to support clients in their homes across the Central Coast region, Gosford NSW. The role focuses on cleaning, meal prep, shopping assistance and social support to help clients live safely at home.

Applicants should have prior aged care or community setting experience, good fitness, and the ability to work autonomously with minimal supervision. A smartphone and valid license are advantageous.

Responsibilities

• Provide client-focused domestic assistance and social support while upholding the client's cultural independence and dignity.
• Undertake routine cleaning tasks including toilets, kitchen, vacuuming, mopping, dusting, bed linen changes, laundry.
• Assist clients with unaccompanied shopping and meal preparation.
• Apply hygiene, infection control and safe cleaning procedures.
• Maintain clear communication and document progress notes; escalate concerns as needed.
• Undertake other duties as required by service needs.

Alzheimer’s Queensland (AQ) is a progressive, not-for-profit organisation providing a comprehensive and bespoke suite of world-class aged care services. We are seeking passionate Domestic Assistants to join our community care team on a Casual basis for our Central Coast region. This role provides a range of high-quality domestic services tailored to support clients within the community who require assistance with everyday duties in their own homes.

You will play a meaningful role in promoting the retention of existing life skills, supporting clients to lead a valued life, and enabling them to remain living safely in their own home.

Key Responsibilities

• Provide client-focused domestic assistance and social support while upholding the client's cultural independence and dignity.
• Undertake routine cleaning tasks, Tasks include but not limited to cleaning high touch point areas such as toilets and kitchen; sweeping or vacuuming; mopping; dusting; changing bedsheets; washing, drying, ironing and folding clothes; washing walls and windows; and other duties as requested.
• Assist clients with unaccompanied shopping and meal preparation.
• Apply hygiene, infection control, and safe cleaning procedures.
• Maintain clear communication, document regular progress notes in the system, and **escalate** any concerns in a timely manner.
• Undertake any other duties as reasonably required or directed as service needs change.

Requirements

• Demonstrated experience in a similar role (experience in aged care or community settings is highly desirable).
• Good level of physical fitness with an ability to complete repetitive tasks for extended periods.
• Superior time management and problem-solving skills, with the ability to work autonomously with minimal supervision.
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills, alongside proficiency in using digital applications and smart phones.
• Current First Aid and CPR certificate.
• Current Australian Driver's License.
• Roadworthy and registered vehicle with full comprehensive car insurance.
• A smart phone and willingness to use it for work purposes.
• Current National Police Certificate clearance (and willingness to renew it every 3 years).
