Job summary

Sodexo is looking for a Domestic Assistant to join our team at Ipswich Hospital. You’ll help create a safe, clean, and welcoming environment for patients, staff and visitors, contributing to overall health and wellbeing through attentive service.

You’ll need a strong work ethic, attention to detail and pride in delivering exceptional service within a hospital setting, supporting infection control and patient dignity.

Qualifications

• Basic literacy and good communication skills.
• A friendly, respectful and caring approach towards patients and visitors.
• The ability to follow instructions and work safely at all times.

Responsibilities

• Carry out routine cleaning duties in line with ward and departmental procedures.
• Clean floors, furniture, beds, bathrooms, toilets, glass and other hospital areas.
• Replenish essential supplies, including soap, hand towels and toilet paper.
• Safely remove domestic and clinical waste.
• Use cleaning equipment, materials and PPE correctly and safely.
• Respond to additional cleaning requests and follow infection-control requirements.
• Report maintenance issues, defects or signs of infestation.
• Communicate politely and professionally with patients, visitors and hospital colleagues while maintaining dignity and confidentiality.
