Job summary

Sodexo is hiring a Ward Catering Assistant at Nuffield Health Brighton Hospital to prepare and serve nutritious meals for patients, while maintaining kitchen cleanliness and safety. You’ll also ensure dietary needs are met and support infection prevention in hospital settings.

You will join a friendly team, follow instructions, and uphold high food-safety standards. The role includes on-site parking, Sodexo benefits, and 18 hours per week across 3 days with a permanent contract.

Qualifications

• Previous experience in a similar role or willingness to learn.
• A positive, reliable and caring approach, with a genuine desire to provide excellent service to patients.
• Good communication and listening skills, with the ability to work well as part of a team.
• Ability to follow written and verbal instructions accurately and work efficiently.
• Commitment to high standards of food safety, hygiene and cleanliness.
• Good timekeeping, reliability and a flexible approach to supporting the team.
• Willingness to learn and complete required training, including maintaining mandatory standards.
• Food Safety Level 2 certificate (or equivalent) or willingness to achieve this.

Responsibilities

• Deliver a friendly, high-quality meal service to patients, ensuring dignity, care and excellent customer service.
• Prepare, assemble and serve patient meals accurately, including special dietary requirements.
• Maintain high standards of food safety, hygiene and infection prevention in line with hospital and company policies.
• Complete food temperature checks, quality records and other required documentation accurately.
• Keep ward kitchens, catering equipment and work areas clean, safe and well stocked.
• Support stock rotation, waste reduction and the safe transportation of food trolleys.
• Work as part of a team, following instructions and helping with other catering duties as required
