Catholic Education Diocese of Wollongong in Sydney is seeking a temporary part-time Classroom Teacher to support diverse learners in mainstream and specialist settings. You will design educational/pastoral interventions for students with additional needs, support student wellbeing, and teach as required, under the direction of the Principal.

The role contributes to growth in faith and learning, guiding students toward their potential.

Qualifications

• Essential criteria: commitment to the mission of the Catholic School, PB4L-based learning environment, diverse needs support, planning and implementing teaching in KLA(s), use of varied assessment strategies with data analysis, active engagement with colleagues/parents/community.
• Desirable criteria: experience adjusting tasks for students with disabilities, leading meetings with parents, Special Education experience, developing personalised learning plans with families/external agencies, understanding of the Disability Standards for Education and NCCD processes.

Description du poste

A temporary part time position commencing 28 January 2027 until 26 January 2028. The successful applicant will support teachers to meet the needs of diverse learners in a mainstream and specialist settings by designing educational/pastoral interventions for students with additional needs.

The role supports the student wellbeing, teaching as required and duties as directed by the Principal. The role of the Classroom Teacher exists to support growth in faith and improvement in learning so that students may reach their full potential.

ESSENTIAL SELECTION CRITERIA

• Demonstrate a deep understanding and commitment to the mission and purpose of the Catholic School within the broader Catholic Church.
• Create and maintain an orderly, safe and supportive learning environment based on the principles of PB4L.
• Apply knowledge of the diverse needs of students to support their full participation in learning.
• Ability to plan for and implement effective teaching and learning in KLA(s).
• Use a range of assessment strategies and analyse data to inform student learning.
• Demonstrate commitment to engage professionally with colleagues, parents /carers and the wider school community.

DESIRABLE SELECTION CRITERIA

• Experience adjusting class work and assessment activities for students with disabilities.
• Experience leading meetings with parents and carers to support student learning.
• Have Special education qualification and/or experience teaching in a specialised setting.
• Have experience in developing effective relationships with parents/carers and external agencies in order to develop personalised learning plans for students with disability.
• Demonstrate an understanding of the Disability Standards for Education (DSE) 2005 and the processes integral to the annual Nationally Consistent Collection of Data (NCCD).

QUALIFICATIONS

• Appropriate qualifications for teaching
• Have Special education qualification and/or experience teaching in a specialised setting or a commitment to gaining qualifications in Special Education.
• Level B Accreditation in accordance with To Work, Teach and Lead policy or a commitment to gain level within the first 5 years of employment with CEDoW.
• The applicant must be registered to teach with NESA.

This role is classified as child related work and therefore a Working With Children Check (WWCC) is required prior to your employment with CEDoW.
