Job summary

Long Glass Australia is seeking an experienced Dispatch Manager to oversee the safe and efficient dispatch of glass products from our Hume facility in Canberra. You will plan daily deliveries, coordinate transport, supervise loading, and ensure orders are delivered on time and accurately.

The role requires strong organisational skills, experience supervising drivers and dispatch staff, excellent communication, and a solid understanding of WHS and load restraints.

Qualifications

• Previous experience in dispatch, transport, logistics or warehouse supervision.
• Strong organisational, scheduling and problem-solving skills.
• Experience supervising drivers and dispatch staff.
• Good communication and customer-service skills.
• Ability to work under pressure and adapt to changing priorities.
• Strong attention to detail and accurate record-keeping.
• WHS understanding and load-restraint knowledge.
• Competence in Microsoft Office and inventory/dispatch systems.
• Experience in glass/construction or building-materials industry is highly regarded.
• A current driver licence is required.
• A forklift licence and truck licence would be an advantage.

Responsibilities

• Plan and coordinate daily deliveries, dispatch schedules and transport requirements.
• Liaise with customers, drivers, warehouse staff and the production team regarding delivery times and priorities.
• Check customer orders, glass sizes, quantities and delivery documentation before dispatch.
• Supervise the safe loading, securing and unloading preparation of glass products.
• Allocate work to drivers and dispatch staff and monitor delivery progress.
• Ensure loads comply with weight, height, load-restraint and road-safety requirements.
• Manage delivery delays, damaged products, missing items and customer enquiries.
• Maintain accurate dispatch, delivery and vehicle records.
• Coordinate vehicle servicing, maintenance and daily safety checks.
• Monitor stock movements and assist with regular stocktakes.
• Promote and maintain a safe, clean and efficient dispatch area.
• Report operational issues and delivery performance to management.
