La Trobe Financial in Melbourne is seeking a Discharges Officer to join our Customer Services team and support the completion of loan discharges. You will prepare payout figures and guide discharge requests through to completion, liaising with borrowers, solicitors, and other stakeholders to ensure timely processing.

Ideal candidates have a tertiary qualification in Finance or related discipline, or 1–2 years in mortgage discharges or settlements, with strong data skills, attention to detail,

The Opportunity

An opportunity has become available for a Discharges Officer to join our Customer Services division and support the successful completion of loan discharges.

Reporting to the Discharges Manager, you will be responsible for preparing loan discharge payout figures and guiding discharge requests through to completion. You will liaise with borrowers, solicitors, and other stakeholders to ensure a smooth and efficient experience while meeting key timeframes.

This role is ideal for someone who has recently completed a tertiary qualification in Finance or a related discipline, or for an individual with 1-2 years of mortgage discharge or settlements experience who is looking to further develop their skills and build a rewarding career within a collaborative and supportive team.

Key Responsibilities

• Prepare payout figures, including all applicable fees and costs
• Prepare payout figures for internal use
• Ensure Discharge of Mortgage Documents are prepared and executed correctly
• Prepare solicitor instructions and borrower correspondence in relation to their discharge
• Monitor the email inbox, prioritise requests, sort incoming mail and electronic filing
• Process daily report and update accounts as required
• Respond to customer queries in a friendly and professional manner

About You

We are looking for someone who enjoys working in a team, likes working with data and can provide excellent customer service. The successful candidate will also possess the following:

• Knowledge of mortgage discharges and experience in the financial services industry, preferred
• Ability to accurately process data with a strong attention to detail
• Proficient in Microsoft Excel
• Strong organisational skills and time management
