Job summary

Life Without Barriers in Sydney is seeking a Permanent Part-Time Disability Support Worker to support people with diverse needs in our Supported Independent Living program in Chifley. You will provide quality care through daily living activities, mealtime support, appointment assistance and community access, and assist with health and medical needs.

Qualifications

• Experience supporting people with high physical support needs and complex care requirements.
• Previous experience in a Supported Independent Living (SIL) or group home environment is preferred.
• Manual Handling and hoisting experience.
• Confidence in driving a large wheelchair van.
• A current First Aid and CPR Certificate.

Responsibilities

• Follow person-centred support and behaviour plans.
• Provide support with a range of daily personal activities.
• Maintain thorough record keeping.
• Build positive relationships with the people we support, families and colleagues.
• Advocate for client choice and control.
• Assist with peg feeding and catheter care, focusing on comfort and safety, with training available for those new to the tasks.
