Haven Care Australia Pty Ltd – Canberra ACT is seeking compassionate Disability Support Workers to join our team supporting participants living with Huntington’s disease and progressive neurological conditions.

You will work in a Supported Independent Living environment, providing person-centred care and adapting to changing needs with a focus on dignity and quality of life. Training and clinical support are provided, with a collaborative, multidisciplinary team.

Competenze

• Certificate III/IV in relevant support fields or equivalent experience.
• NDIS Worker Screening Check and WWVP registration as required.
• First Aid/CPR up to date and valid driver's licence.
• Medication handling and manual-handling competencies indicated.
• Willingness to undertake participant-specific training when needed.

Mansioni

• Provide person-centred support in a SIL environment.
• Assist with personal care, mobility, transfers and safety handling.
• Mealtime support and adherence to nutrition plans.
• PEG-related support if trained and within competency.
• Medication assistance per plans and procedures.
• Support communication where cognition or speech changes occur.
• Recognise and report health, mobility or wellbeing changes.
• Follow clinical care plans, risk assessments and allied-health guidance.
• Support appointments, community access and meaningful activities.
• Maintain progress notes and incident reports; document clearly.
• Collaborate with nurses, families, coordinators and care team.
• Provide emotional reassurance and a calm environment.
• Support participant choice, independence and dignity.
