Qualifications

Disability Support Worker – Supported Independent Living (SIL) – West Pennant Hills

Quality Health Care (QHC) is looking for experienced Disability Support Workers to join our West Pennant Hills team, supporting 7 SIL residents with a range of complex needs.

This role offers variety within one home. You’ll support our existing SIL residents and provide dedicated 1:1 support to a new client Autism who will be joining the home for a medium term. Their support will include community outings and activities.

Experience supporting people with Autism and Intellectual Disability is essential. We’re looking for confident, adaptable workers who build trust, bring consistency and recognise the difference good support makes to someone’s day.

Our existing residents have needs including Huntington’s Disease, mental health, complex communication needs and high physical support requirements.

We are looking for confident and adaptable Support Workers who can provide consistent, person-centred support across both areas while promoting independence, choice, dignity and quality of life.

What you’ll do

• Provide dedicated 1:1 support, following the client’s routines, preferences and support plans.


• Support meaningful community participation, outings and appointments.


• Build positive relationships while maintaining clear professional boundaries.


• Assist residents with personal care, continence, meals and mobility.


• Use appropriate equipment and safe manual handling techniques.


• Implement Positive Behaviour Support strategies consistently.


• Administer medication in line with individual plans and procedures.


• Notice and report changes in wellbeing


• Work closely with the wider team to support residents’ independence, choice and dignity.

What you’ll bring

• Demonstrated experience supporting people with Autism and Intellectual Disability.


• Experience providing 1:1 support and responding to complex behaviours using Positive Behaviour Support strategies.


• Certificate IV in Disability, Individual Support, Community Services or equivalent experience.


• A calm, consistent approach and the confidence to adapt to different support needs.


• Strong personal care, manual handling and mealtime support skills.


• An understanding of restrictive practices and Positive Behaviour Support.


• Clear communication, accurate documentation and a collaborative approach.


• Broad availability across weekdays, weekends and overnight shifts.


• A valid driver’s licence, NDIS Worker Screening Check, Working with Children Check, and current First Aid and CPR.
