Disability Support Worker - Complex Support & SIL
We are seeking experienced, confident and compassionate Disability Support Workers to join our team across the Ipswich and Wacol regions. This role involves providing tailored support to adults with complex care needs, complex behaviours of concern and, in some services, forensic backgrounds. You will play an essential role in helping participants achieve their goals while ensuring their safety, dignity, rights and wellbeing are prioritised. We are looking for experienced Support Workers who can confidently respond to complex situations, communicate effectively, maintain high-quality documentation and work consistently within established support plans and team structures.

Employment
This position is classified under the Social, Community, Home Care and Disability Services (SCHADS) Award – Level 3.
Key Responsibilities
- Provide proactive, energetic and flexible support tailored to each participant's needs and goals.
- Support adults with disabilities in daily living, household activities, appointments, community access and recreational activities.
- Ensure participants' safety at all times, both at home and in the community.
- Confidently manage complex behaviours of concern and implement Positive Behaviour Support Plans.
- Recognise early warning signs and respond proactively using appropriate behaviour support strategies and least restrictive approaches.
- Assist participants with communication, including the use of Augmented Communication Aids where required.
- Support participant choice, independence, and supported decision-making.
- Apply person-centered, trauma-informed and active-support approaches in everyday practice.
- Complete clear, objective, and timely progress notes, incident reports, behaviour recording data and other required documentation.
- Communicate effectively with participants, colleagues, management, and relevant stakeholders.
- Work collaboratively within a team to deliver person-centred, NDIS-aligned support.
- Maintain professional boundaries and compliance with NDIS Practice Standards and mandatory reporting requirements.

About You
- Experienced in supporting adults with complex behaviours of concern and implementing Positive Behaviour Support Plans.
- Confident supporting participants with complex needs, including participants who may have forensic backgrounds.
- Knowledgeable in relation to Restrictive Practices, behaviour support, and least-restrictive approaches.
- A strong communicator, with excellent verbal communication skills and the ability to communicate professionally with participants, colleagues and stakeholders.
- A strong writer, with the ability to complete clear, factual and professional documentation.
- Calm and resilient, with the ability to respond professionally and appropriately during complex or escalating situations.
- Empathetic and patient, with strong interpersonal skills and professional boundaries.
- Adaptable, with open and flexible availability across a 24/7 roster, including weekends, sleepovers, and awake shifts.
- Physically active, comfortable supporting participants with community and recreational activities.
- Committed to participant rights, dignity, choice, independence and person-centred support.
Requirements
- Certificate 4 or higherin Disability, Mental Health, Individual Support.
- Current QLD driver's licence.
- Current First Aid Certificate and CPR (or willingness to obtain).
- Current Positive Notice Blue Card (Working With Children Check).
- Current NDIS Worker Screening (Yellow Card).
- National Criminal History Check (or willingness to obtain).
- Basic computer literacy, including Microsoft Office/Outlook/Teams.
