Job summary

Empower Care Pty Ltd is urgently seeking support workers for SIL housing in Toowoomba. The role involves weekend and weekday shifts, assisting with medication, meal planning, daily tasks, transport, and social engagement to support participants in community settings.

Applicants should hold current First Aid/CPR, NDIS Worker Orientation, police check, and a QLD driving licence with vehicle. Training for medication administration is required to ensure high-quality support.

Qualifications

• Current First Aid and CPR Accreditation.
• Current NDIS Worker Screening Check.
• National Criminal History (Police) Check.
• Valid QLD driving licence and insured vehicle.
• Assist with Medication skillset.
• Basic medication administration competency.
• NDIS Worker Orientation Module.

Responsibilities

• Weekend shifts (3-4 weeks) min 4 hours/day.
• Weekday shifts 4-8 hours per shift.
• Attend social and recreational events with participants.
• Accompany participants to appointments.
• Meal preparation and encouraging healthy eating.
• Assisting with medication and daily tasks.
• Cleaning, shopping and daily tasks support.
• Provide companionship and engage with participants' interests.
• Encourage engagement in community activities.
• Complete shift notes at end of each shift.

Tasks and Duties of a Support worker may include:

• Some weekend shifts for 3-4 weeks, minium 4hours each day.
• Weekend shifts paid at higher rates according to award rates (please enquire)
• Week day shifts 4-8 hours per shift.
• Attending social and recreational events with the participant.
• Accompaning the participant to appointments.
• Some meal preparation and encouraging healthy eating.
• Assisting with medication.
• Cleaning, shopping and assisting the participant with daily tasks.
• Providing companionship and taking a genuine interest in the participant and his interests.
• Encouraging the participant to engage in activities in the community.
• Supporting the participant to develop new hobbies and interests.
• Encouraging the participant to make decisions for himself and feel confident doing so.
• The support worker will be required to complete shift notes at the end of each support.

Applicants should have the following qualifications prior to working with participants:

• Current First Aid and CPR Accreditation
