Job summary

Ample Life Care is hiring a Disability Support Worker to assist participants in Sydney's Eastern Suburbs, including Maroubra, Kingsford, and Mascot. You will support individuals with Parkinson's, intellectual and psychosocial disabilities, and cognitive or physical support needs under a person-centred plan.

The role offers casual shifts with the potential to move into a permanent position, requiring 100 points I.D. and essential certifications (First Aid, CPR, NDIS checks) and BSP experience.

Qualifications

Disability Support Worker | Sydney Eastern Suburbs

Location: Sydney Eastern Suburbs - Maroubra, Kingsford and Mascot

Shift Schedule:24/7 rotating roster, including morning, evening, and night shifts (sleepover).

Job Type: Casual

Pay Rate: SCHADS Award Level 2 Pay Point 1 + 25% casual loading

While this is a casual position, you may be scheduled for regular ongoing shifts to support work/life balance, with the potential to move into a permanent role.

About the Role

As a member of our SIL Care Team, you will support participants with support needs including Parkinson's disease, intellectual disability, psychosocial disability, cognitive impairment and physical support needs. You will work under the direction of our SIL Manager, providing support that aligns with each participant's goals and care plan.

Required Documents & Certifications:

• 100 points I.D
• Current First Aid (HLTAID011) and CPR (HLTAID009)
• Valid NDIS Worker Screening Check (or willingness to obtain)
• Current National Police Check including clearance to work with vulnerable persons/people with disability
• NDIS Worker Orientation Module ("Quality, Safety and You") (or willingness to complete prior to commencement)

Required Skills & Experience:

• Minimum 1 year of experience supporting individuals with mental health conditions, psychosocial disabilities, and cognitive impairment, who display behaviours of concern, using positive behaviour support strategies to promote safety and quality of life.
• Minimum 1 year of hands-on experience supporting individuals under Behaviour Support Plans (BSPs), with an understanding of Restrictive Practices (RPs) and their application
• Experience using manual handling equipment such as hoists and slide sheets
• Willingness and confidence to provide personal care.
• Flexibility to work across a variety of shifts, including overnight and sleepover shifts

Your role includes, but not limited to:

• Supporting participants in their daily routines, including personal care, supervision, and social engagement using person-centred communication and routines
• Supporting participant independence through community engagement and individualised programs
• Administering medication safely in line with care plans and clinical guidelines
• Providing manual handling support (e.g., hoists, slide sheets)
• Implementing Behaviour Support Plans (BSPs) and applying Restrictive Practices (RPs) correctly where relevant
• Identifying and reporting hazards to maintain a safe environment
• Maintaining accurate progress notes and incident reports
• Communicating effectively with participants, families, and staff to meet individual needs and goalsCollaborating with allied health professionals for coordinated care
• Participating in ongoing training to build complex care skills
• Maintaining confidentiality and respecting participants' privacy and dignity
• Strong communication, interpersonal, and organisational skills; ability to work autonomously and in a team
• High attention to detail with administrative and documentation tasks
• Genuine commitment to person-centred, active support and the rights of people with disability
• Calm, resilient approach to managing complex or stressful situations
