Job summary

SydWest Multicultural Services in Croydon NSW is seeking a Disability Support Worker to provide personalised care and supports in line with each participant’s NDIS plan. You will assist with daily living tasks, meals, transport, and health activities, delivering services with care, respect, and safety.

The role emphasises person-centred planning, flexibility, and collaboration with clients and teams to maximise independence and community inclusion.

Qualifications

• Current NDIS Workers Clearance Check is mandatory.
• First Aid certificate and CPR current.
• Working with Children Check current.
• Infection Control training completed.
• Fully vaccinated against Covid-19.
• Tertiary qualification in Disability or related field.
• 0–3 years’ experience in aged care or community services.
• Knowledge of NDIS Practice Standards and Quality Indicators.
• Current Australian Driver’s Licence with access to insured vehicle.

Responsibilities

• Provide and deliver personal care and support aligned with NDIS plans.
• Assist with meals, health and wellness activities, and light housekeeping.
• Transport clients as needed and communicate relevant information.
• Deliver services in a safe, respectful, person-centred manner.
• Prioritise workload and work under pressure while maintaining care quality.
• Support individuals with complex to high support needs and challenging behaviours.

PURPOSE

The Disability Support Worker provides and delivers individual and personalised care and support to participants, in line with their needs and choices, so that they may achieve their goals as stated in their NDIS plans. The Disability Support Worker’s responsibilities may include personal care, preparing meals and other health and wellness related activities, house cleaning, transportation, and communicating relevant information to support. The Disability Support Worker will demonstrate a commitment to safe and effective practices, providing services in a caring and respectful manner in accordance with Sydwest and Riverlink's policies and procedures.

QUALIFICATIONS AND SKILLS

• Current NDIS Workers Clearance Check.
• Current First Aid certificate and CPR.
• Current Working with Children Check.
• Completed relevant training modules (e.g. NDIS worker Orientation Module, Infection Control training).
• Fully Vaccinated against Covid-19.
• Tertiary qualifications in Disability, Social Science or related disciplines.
• 0 to 3 years of experience in a similar role (aged care, community / special needs education & teaching/community services).
• Epilepsy training.
• Knowledge and application of safe manual handling practices.
• Sound Knowledge of the NDIS Practice Standards and Quality Indicators.
• Current Australian Driver’s Licence and access to a registered and comprehensively insured vehicle (suitable for transporting consumers).
• Strong knowledge and understanding of the needs and challenges faced by individuals with disabilities.
• Experience in working with person-centred planning techniques in addition to delivering and leading excellent supports practices.
• Excellent organisational skills and ability to prioritise workload while working under pressure.
• Demonstrated experience in the provision of support services to individuals with complex to high support need disabilities and challenging behaviours (including medical support needs).
