Job summary

Angels On Duty in Queensland is seeking passionate ONCALL Disability Support Workers to assist participants in The Gap, Burpengary, Lawnton and surrounding northside areas. Sleepover shifts are available, with travel up to 1 hour from your home for emergencies.

You will provide direct support, help with daily activities, mobility assistance, bowel management, and community participation while upholding participant dignity and privacy.

Qualifications

  • Screening and checks required (QLD)
  • Current First Aid and CPR certification
  • Valid Driver's Licence and reliable transport
  • Ability to build positive relationships with participants
  • Ability to maintain confidentiality and privacy
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills
  • Ability to work overnight, sleepover, morning and broken shifts

Responsibilities

  • Provide direct support to participants per their plans
  • Assist with hoisting and mobility transfers
  • Assistance with bowel management, peg feeding, and stoma care
  • Support daily living and home care for participants with complex needs
  • Provide companionship and reliable service
  • Help with personal grooming and hygiene
  • Assist with household tasks and activities
  • Support community participation and outings
  • Adapt to diverse participant needs and backgrounds
  • Create case notes to improve services
  • Collaborate with participants and families to reach NDIs goals

Job description

Angels on Duty is a registered NDIS disability service provider offering support in daily activities, community participation and short-term and medium-term accommodation for our participants.

We are currently looking for passionate and experienced ONCALL Disability Support Workers to support our valued participants in the following areas: The Gap, Burpengary, Lawnton and other northside regions.

Sleepover Shifts Available

If you are just starting in this field and looking for an opportunity to develop your skills, we are happy to provide you with the support and continuous training and development to be successful in this field.

Availability Required
  • Staff with full availability is highly desirable but can work around schedules if needed.
  • Willing to travel up to 1 hour from residence to work in the event of an emergency.
Selection Criteria
  • Disability Worker Screening (QLD)
  • Working with Children Check (QLD).
  • Current First Aid and CPR certificate.
  • Current Driver's License and comprehensive car insurance, plus own reliable transport
  • Experience and ability to develop a positive relationship with participants and support their Individual Support Plan.
  • Ability to maintain participant’s confidentiality and privacy.
  • Effective verbal and written communication skills.
  • Ability to work active overnight, sleepover, morning shifts and broken shifts.
Tasks & responsibilities
  • Provide direct quality support to participants in line with their support needs, the program they are accessing, and all support plans including the service users Individual Plan.
  • Hoisting and mobility transfers.
  • Assistance in bowel management | Peg feeding | stoma care.
  • Ability to navigate daily life and home care assistance for participants with highly complex needs.
  • Be a direct source of companionship and reliability.
  • Personal grooming including showering, toileting and personal care.
  • Household tasks, and development of their capacities.
  • Community support - going for shopping, engage in physical outdoor activities, and other social interests.
  • You are adaptable to the different needs, environments, experiences, and cultural backgrounds of our Participants.
  • Create case notes of the shifts to improve our services to participants.
  • Establish professional rapport and collaborate effectively with participants and families to reach their personal and NDIS goals.
