Job summary

Darios Disability Service is seeking a compassionate Disability Support Worker to provide one-on-one support to an 11-year-old with Autism Spectrum Disorder (Level 2) in the Melbourne area. You will assist with daily activities, routines, and emotional wellbeing.

This role focuses on developing social skills, promoting independence, and supporting attendance at community activities while following care plans and family guidance.

Qualifications

• Experience or knowledge of autism support is preferred.
• Ability to follow routines and provide structure.
• Strong communication and observation skills.
• Patient, calm and understanding approach around children.

Responsibilities

• Provide one-on-one support in the home and community.
• Assist with daily routines and structured activities.
• Support social skills development and behaviour strategies.
• Encourage participation in community, recreational, and learning activities.
• Use clear, calm, and consistent communication.
• Complete progress notes and timesheets accurately.

To provide safe, respectful, and person-centred support to an 11-year-old participant with Autism Spectrum Disorder (Level 2). The support worker will assist with daily activities, social development, and community participation while promoting independence, routine, and emotional wellbeing.

Key Duties

• Provide one-on-one support in the home and community
• Assist with daily routines and structured activities
• Support social skills development and positive behaviour strategies
• Encourage participation in community, recreational, and learning activities
• Use clear, calm, and consistent communication
• Support emotional regulation and maintain a safe environment
• Follow care plans, behaviour support strategies, and family guidance
• Assist with transport to activities or appointments if required
• Complete progress notes and timesheets accurately
