Job summary

Sunnysights Independent Living in Gympie, QLD is seeking a compassionate Disability Support Worker to join our team in a casual role. You will provide essential support to individuals, helping them live more independently and participate fully in their communities.

Responsibilities include personal care, mobility support, domestic tasks and documenting progress for care coordinators. The role offers flexible hours and a chance to make a meaningful difference in clients' lives.

Qualifications

• A genuine passion for supporting people with disabilities and person-centred care.
• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills to build trust with clients and their families.
• Physical ability to assist with personal care and mobility safely.
• Reliability, punctuality and a flexible approach to work scheduling as a casual team member.
• A valid Working With Children Check (WWCC).
• Current First Aid certification.
• Previous experience in disability support, aged care or community services is advantageous.
• The ability to work both independently and as part of a team.
• Sound knowledge of disability support principles and best practices in person-centred care.

• Providing personal care and assistance with activities of daily living, including bathing, dressing, grooming and meal preparation.
• Supporting clients with mobility and transportation to appointments, social activities and community events.
• Assisting with household tasks and maintaining a safe, clean living environment.
• Encouraging and supporting clients to develop independence and life skills.
• Building positive relationships with clients and their families, treating all individuals with dignity and respect.
• Documenting support provided and communicating updates to supervisors and care coordinators.
• Maintaining confidentiality and adhering to health and safety standards.
• Responding with patience and empathy to the individual needs and preferences of clients.
• Supporting clients' participation in social, recreational and community activities.
