Job summary

Brightside Disability Suppport & Respite is seeking a devoted Disability Support Worker to assist participants with daily living activities and personal care in the Brisbane and Gold Coast region.

You will promote independence, provide companionship, and help participants engage in meaningful activities, while maintaining safety and dignity at all times.

Qualifications

• Blue Card, WWCC and NDIS Screening/Yellow Card certifications required.
• Current First Aid and CPR certification required.
• Valid driver’s license with reliable vehicle and insurance.

Responsibilities

About the Role

Become a vital part of our team at Brightside, where you can truly make a difference in the lives of individuals with disabilities. As a Disability Support Worker, your role will focus on providing compassionate support and facilitating engaging activities that enhance well-being.

Your responsibilities will include assisting with daily living tasks such as personal care and meal preparation, while promoting community participation and social interaction. By cultivating a safe, supportive, and enjoyable environment, you will help our participants flourish and achieve personal growth.

Key Responsibilities

• Personal Care Assistance: Help participants with daily living activities such as bathing, dressing, grooming, and toileting. Assist with mobility and physical support.
• Support with Daily Activities: Aid participants in meal preparation and feeding. Assist with household tasks such as cleaning, laundry, and shopping.
• Emotional and Social Support: Provide companionship and emotional support to clients. Encourage social interaction and participation in community activities.
• Skill Development: Support participants in developing life skills such as budgeting, cooking, and personal hygiene. Help clients set and achieve personal goals through tailored support plans.
• Transportation and Mobility: Assist clients with transportation to appointments, social activities, and community events. Provide support in navigating public transport or adapting to travel needs.
• Documentation and Reporting: Maintain accurate records of participants progress, incidents, and care plans. Prepare reports for case managers or supervisors as necessary.

About You

We are seeking compassionate and dedicated individuals who are passionate about supporting participants in their daily lives.

To succeed in this role, you will need:

• Blue Card, WWCC, and NDIS Screening/Yellow Card certifications.
• Current First Aid and CPR certification.
• A valid driver’s license and reliable vehicle with comprehensive insurance – our participants are located across both Brisbane and the Gold Coast.
• Experience working with participants who have high-intensity and complex behaviours.
• Experience working with spinal cord injuries will be highly advantageous.
