Job summary

Housing Australia is seeking an Associate Director, Operations & Governance to partner with the Chief Operating Officer. The role leads the COO’s executive office functions, coordinates board processes, and oversees governance reporting and risk activities across the Operations Group.

The successful candidate will operate with autonomy in a high‑trust environment, manage the COO’s diary, draft sensitive communications, and act as a primary liaison for executive stakeholders.

Qualifications

• Substantial experience in a senior executive support or chief of staff role.
• Ability to operate with autonomy in a high-trust environment supporting C‑suite leadership.
• Familiarity with governance, board and committee processes and exec‑level communications.
• Executive‑level written and verbal communication across diverse formats.
• Exceptional organisational capability and priority management.
• Sound strategic judgement and ability to act on behalf of the COO’s office.

Responsibilities

• Lead the day‑to‑day operation of the Office of the COO and coordinate boards/committees.
• Support general business coordination across the Operations Group and track priorities.
• Establish systems and rhythms to ensure consistent executive support.
• Manage the COO’s diary with strategic intent and conflict resolution.
• Draft and oversee correspondence on behalf of the COO, including sensitive communications.
• Lead secretariat functions for executive committees and governance papers.
• Serve as primary contact for the COO’s office and manage inquiries and relationships.
• Model high standards of judgement, discretion and professionalism.
• Coordinate asset security framework and ensure controls remain current.
• Coordinate reporting to the COO and governance forums; ensure timely, decision‑ready info.
• Liaise with internal audit and management on material security matters.
• Provide Secretariat support for forums and committees; organise agenda and papers.
• Drive strategic initiatives with milestones, on time and within budget.
