Job summary

Australian Energy Regulator (AER) is seeking a Director - Workforce to lead the evolution of HR services from foundational functions to a high-performing operation. You will drive contemporary workforce strategies, collaborate with senior leaders, and provide strategic advice on trends and risks to support priority delivery.

The role requires experience in leading multidisciplinary HR teams, implementing payroll and recruitment, and developing strategic workforce plans aligned to agency goals.

Qualifications

• Experience leading multidisciplinary HR teams.
• Experience implementing payroll and recruitment processes.
• Experience delivering strategic workforce plans and talent strategies.
• Qualifications in psychology or HR; AHRI accreditation preferred.

Responsibilities

• Lead and develop multidisciplinary HR teams across capability, recruitment, payroll and workforce reporting.
• Establish governance, policies and reporting frameworks for the portfolio.
• Oversee capability, recruitment, payroll and workforce reporting to ensure compliance and efficiency.
• Lead agency-wide workforce planning and capability initiatives including the AER Workforce Plan.
• Oversee development of the capability framework, leadership and professional development initiatives.
• Lead APS Census, workforce reporting and analytics, turning data into strategic advice.
