Job summary

Connexus Recruitment Pty Ltd. is assisting a well-established Sydney client-side PM consultancy to appoint a third director who will have equity and a voice in shaping the business.

The role covers delivering major projects, leading a PM team, driving new work opportunities, and actively managing business operations, with a flexible hybrid work arrangement and a strong NSW network.

Qualifications

• Minimum 15+ years client-side project management experience.
• Several years leading a team of 10+ people.
• Proven track record of winning work and building a practice.
• Must be established in Sydney with an NSW network.

Director of Project Management (Client-side / Construction)

Most director roles give you a title and a seat at someone else's table.

This one gives you equity and a say in what the business becomes.

The company

A well-established Sydney client-side PM consultancy is adding a third director. Their annual review came back with a clear finding. To double in size over the next three years, they need someone who has built a business unit before and wants to do it again with skin in the game.

Social infrastructure is their speciality, roughly 80% is health, education, social housing and aged care.

They punch above their weight, delivering projects into the hundreds of millions, and they've just won two significant NSW Government health commissions.

The Role

Your role covers three areas.

• Project Delivery - managing their PM team and being hands on with projects, clients and guiding internal team


• Business Development - having a strong BD role, identify new work opportunities, cultivate existing relationships, leverage existing network, prepare tender / bid submissions, win work.


• Business Operations - being actively involved with the internal day-to-day management of the business, team, commercials (P&L), etc

The package is a fixed base plus an at-risk component tied to KPIs, with equity on the table. You'll work from home at least one day a week.

About you

• Minimum 15+ years client-side experience and several years leading a team of 10 or more.


• Track record of winning work and building a practice.


• You need to be established in Sydney, with an NSW network that already works for you.


• You need to want a small, ambitious firm where your effort shows up directly in the result.


• If you're after a quiet director title in a large firm, this isn't it.


• My client is not looking for someone who wants to move into a director role, they want someone who is currently doing this job (successfully) in another consulting firm.
