Job summary

Alvarez & Marsal (A&M) is seeking a Director/Senior Director based in Australia to lead Operational Risk Management and Enterprise Risk Management initiatives. You will design integrated risk frameworks, guide board discussions on risk appetite, and oversee risk control programs across client engagements.

Qualifications

Bachelor’s or master’s degree in business administration, finance, accounting, risk management, engineering, or related major.
10+ years of proven experience across operational and enterprise risk management, in first/second line, audit, or consulting.
Track record of owning enterprise-wide risk frameworks end to end including taxonomy, registers, appetite, KRIs, and board reporting.
Deep experience in operational risk disciplines—RCSA, control design and testing, loss/event data, scenario analysis, remediation.
Experience advising on operational resilience, business continuity and third-party risk.
Working knowledge of frameworks/regulatory expectations such as ISO 31000, ISO 17776 and other resilience regimes.
Prior consulting experience with strong business acumen and development potential.
Professional certifications such as ERM or ISO 31000 qualifications.
Credibility with boards, risk/audit committees, regulators, and second/third lines.
Willingness to travel.
Ability to facilitate analyses to guide delivery and propose action plans.

Responsibilities

Lead and manage ORM and ERM work fronts with engagement and client-facing leadership.
Design and implement integrated risk frameworks linking principal risks to risk taxonomy and controls.
Lead board/executive risk discussions, including risk appetite and escalation protocols.
Provide oversight across risk control programs, testing, and remediation with strong defensibility of conclusions.
Develop and deliver Safety Culture assessments and HSE-related engagements.
Advise on risk governance and operational resilience, including three lines of defense.
Act as engagement quality reviewer ensuring objectivity and standards.
Lead meetings with clients and A&M executives, contributing to strategic direction.
Mentor managers/junior colleagues and foster team development.
Build client relationships and identify opportunities for risk advisory work.
