Job description

Location: CBD, Sydney - 4 days/week in -office

Rem Package: Up to $280K base + super + 20% bonus

The Opportunity:

Most technology directors either run the estate or lead the transformation. This one needs to do both, at the same time, while a global parent company decides how much of the local operation it wants to keep.

You'll join one of Australia's largest consumer technology businesses, a platform used by millions of people every day.

Recently acquired by a global technology group, the business is now working through the messy, high-stakes part of any acquisition: figuring out what stays local, what moves to global capability, and how to keep the lights on while those calls get made platform by platform.

This isn't a programme role or an IT Ops role:
  • The parent company's technology leadership is hands-on, and you'll be expected to be too.
  • You'd own Salesforce, Zuora billing, Dynamics 365 finance systems, a business application estate of roughly 300 to 400 SaaS tools, an in-house integration layer with meaningful business logic, and IT Operations.
  • Team of around 25, currently six direct reports, consolidating to four.
  • The mandate has two halves running at once: keep the current estate stable and reliable, and lead its migration into global capability, deciding case by case what should centralise and what has a real reason to stay local. You'll also shape what the function becomes once that's done, including what it owns and where the team fits in a global operation.
What success looks like in year one
  • Business-critical platforms stay stable through the transition, with incidents and risks actively managed
  • A clear migration roadmap, governance cadence and decision framework is in place
  • Local requirements and operational risk are properly represented in global platform decisions
  • The team has clarity on direction and where their skills fit the future state
  • Business Technology is positioned as a partner to the business, not a legacy systems owner
What you'll bring
  • Real software engineering depth. Not coding day-to-day, but enough to zoom in on architecture, databases, integrations and .NET services and get to root cause without relying on an architect to translate
  • Experience owning enterprise CRM and platform estates at real scale: Salesforce configuration, workflows and business rules, and how they connect to billing (Zuora or equivalent) and finance (Dynamics 365 or equivalent)
  • A migration, consolidation or transformation track record, ideally through an acquisition or global parent-company integration, including rationalising a large SaaS and business application estate
  • Comfort moving between executive strategy conversations and implementation detail in the same week
  • Stakeholder influence where the final call often sits with a parent organisation, not with you
  • Experience keeping a team engaged and delivering through ambiguity and change, with enough IT Operations exposure to set direction and manage risk
