Job summary

North West Queensland is seeking a Director of Child Care to lead the Curry Kids Early Learning Centre. This role reports to the Director Community Services and Economic Development and focuses on child safety, regulatory compliance, staff leadership and educational quality to drive service performance.

The successful candidate will shape staffing and operations for Curry Kids as it moves to a new facility, coach educators, address performance and compliance issues, and build strong

Qualifications

  • Diploma or Bachelor in Early Childhood Education and Care or ACECQA-approved equivalent
  • Demonstrated leadership in an early childhood service
  • Knowledge of NQS, Regulations and Nominated Supervisor responsibilities
  • Current Queensland Working with Children Check / Blue Card
  • Current First Aid/CPR, anaphylaxis and emergency asthma training
  • Child protection and child safety training

Job Description

About The Role: Reporting to the Director Community Services and Economic Development, the Director Child Care leads the day-to-day operation of Curry Kids Early Learning Centre and fulfils the responsibilities of Nominated Supervisor. This is a highly visible leadership role with responsibility for child safety, regulatory compliance, staff leadership and development, educational quality, service performance and strong relationships with families. You will also play an important role in preparing Curry Kids for the transition into its new facility, helping shape staffing, service readiness, systems and operations for the next chapter of the Centre.

About You: We are seeking a capable and engaging early childhood leader who knows how to bring out the best in people while maintaining high standards of care, professionalism and accountability. You are a visible, practical leader, comfortable spending time in the rooms, coaching educators, supporting your team and understanding what is happening across the Centre. Just as importantly, you can make sound decisions, manage competing priorities and confidently address performance, compliance or operational issues when they arise.

About the Candidate
  • Strong leadership experience within an early childhood education and care environment
  • Excellent knowledge of the National Quality Framework, National Quality Standard, National Law and Regulations
  • Strong understanding of child safety, child protection and Nominated Supervisor responsibilities
  • Proven ability to lead, mentor and develop educators while creating a positive and accountable team culture
  • Experience driving quality improvement and preparing for Assessment and Rating
  • Strong operational capability across staffing, rostering, enrolments, occupancy and service performance
  • Sound financial, planning and organisational skills with the ability to manage competing priorities
  • Excellent communication skills and the ability to build trusted relationships with children, families, employees and stakeholders
Mandatory Requirements:
  • Diploma of Early Childhood Education and Care, Bachelor of Early Childhood Education, or an ACECQA-approved equivalent or higher qualification
  • Demonstrated leadership experience within an early childhood education and care service
  • Knowledge, experience and capability to undertake the role of Nominated Supervisor
  • Current Queensland Working with Children Check / Blue Card
  • Current approved First Aid, CPR, anaphylaxis and emergency asthma management training
  • Required child protection and child safety training
Desirable:
  • Minimum three years experience as a Director, Nominated Supervisor, Assistant Director or in a comparable senior early childhood leadership role
  • Experience leading a service through Assessment and Rating
  • Experience managing staffing, budgets, occupancy and service performance
  • Experience establishing, transitioning or significantly improving an early childhood education and care service
Work Environment
  • Permanent Full-Time - Queensland Local Government Industry (Stream A) Award - $125,000 to $135,000 per annum (Depending on Qualifications and Experience) + Superannuation
  • Housing provided: Council housing as part of your package
  • Monthly RDO (13 per year)
  • Personal (Sick) Leave
  • Five weeks annual leave, with 17.5% leave loading
