Job summary

Little Steps Early Learning in Sydney seeks a qualified Nominated Supervisor to lead our privately-owned service. You will oversee learning programs, ensure EYLF and National Regulations compliance, and mentor Educators and Lead Educators.

Role requires strong communication, WHS knowledge, CCS understanding and a hands-on approach to staff development and community liaison; the licensee supports professional growth and a positive work culture.

Qualifications

  • Qualified with Diploma or Bachelor in ECE or ACECQA approved equivalent.
  • Minimum 2 years’ leadership experience in an Early Childhood Service, or 3+ years in ECE.
  • Strong written and spoken communication skills.
  • Proven ability in administration, curriculum development and staff leadership.
  • WHS legislation understanding.
  • Knowledge of CCS and ability to use CCS software.
  • Willingness to be Nominated Supervisor under National Law.
  • Knowledge of EYLF, NQF and related legislation.

Responsibilities

  • Ensure learning programs are play-based and responsive to children's ideas and strengths.
  • Monitor and mentor Education Leader to plan and evaluate programs aligned with EYLF.
  • Promote child wellbeing and adherence to Child Safe standards.
  • Maintain knowledge of Child Protection legislation and reporting duties.
  • Assist educators and mentor Lead Educators to create a safe, educational environment.
  • Respond to hazards, document actions, and liaise with Area Manager or Approved Provider if needed.
  • Resource the service with equipment and maintain a well-presented environment.
  • Oversee staff induction, training and compliance with policies and procedures.
  • Ensure staff understand NQF, CCMS/CCS requirements and related legislation.

Little Steps Early Learning is a privately-owned early education and care service that believes in creating a dynamic, nurturing and inquiry-based learning environment for children and their families, educators and the wider community.
The centre, which was purpose built, is licensed for 68 children each day.


It is conveniently locate near public transportation.

3 minutes walk from the Rouse Hill station.

Onsite and street parking is also available

Qualifications & experience

To be considered for this role, you MUST hold a COMPLETED Diploma OR Bachelor in Education of Early Childhood Education or ACECQA approved equivalent qualification

Minimum 2 years’ experience in a similar leadership role in an Early Childhood Service or minimum 3 years’ experience working in an Early Childhood Service

A passion for providing high-quality education and care to children and families

Proficient communication skills, particularly written and spoken

Proven ability in all areas of administrative procedure, curriculum development, parent and community liaison, staff professional development and training, team leadership and management of staff.

Understanding and working knowledge of WHS legislation

Demonstrated knowledge of service’s requirements of the Child Care Subsidy (CCS) system and ability to perform software application for compliance

Be willing to accept the role of Nominated Supervisor under the Education and Care Services National Law Application Bill 2010 and Education and Care Services National Regulations

Demonstrated knowledge of the Early Years Learning Framework, Education and Care Services National Law (2010), Education and Care Services National Regulations (2011), Family Assistance Law (Child Care Subsidy 2018), Child Protection legislation

Tasks & responsibilities

  • Ensure LITTLE STEP EARLY LEARNING facilitates a play-based learning environment and develops learning programs responsive to children’s ideas, strengths and abilities that inspire independent learners
  • Monitor and mentor the Education Leader at each service to facilitate the successful planning, implementation and evaluation of a program for the service that is reflective of an approved learning framework; the Early Years Learning Framework (EYLF)
  • Promote child wellbeing and prevent harm to children and young people by adopting and adhering to the National Principles of Child Safe Organisations
  • Maintain and demonstrate an extensive knowledge of Child Protection legislation and its implications for the care and protection of children
  • Ensure compliance as a mandated reporter in accordance with the service Child Protection policy and procedures
  • Assist educators, monitor and mentor Lead Educators to lead, guide and support educators to create a safe, supportive, stimulating and educational environment for all children
  • Respond, document and develop a plan of action for any situation that may constitute a hazard to the health and safety to children, families, educators, staff or visitors that has been reported by lead educators/educators. If required, report to the Area Manager/Approved Provider.
  • Resource the services with appropriate equipment and ensure the team maintain the aesthetics of the environment and ensure all resources and equipment are respected and maintained
  • And staff to comply with child protection in the workplace
  • Facilitate the induction process of new educators and staff within the organisation in line with the Probation and Induction Orientation Policy and procedures
  • Ensure educators and staff have a working knowledge of the National Quality Framework and meet these guidelines in their work practices
  • Help others to understand their obligations to comply with legislation, rules, policies and procedures relating to the operation of the service
  • Demonstrate a thorough knowledge of the Code of Ethics (Early Childhood Australia Inc.) and ensure educators and staff act within these guidelines
  • View and respect children as competent and capable
  • Promote positive, comforting and nurturing relationships with children
  • Ensure that educators and staff provide a supportive educational environment for all children and families
  • Act as a positive role model, demonstrating appropriate behaviour and language; and
  • Communicate with children in an open, honest manner and ensure that the child’s perspective is regarded as unique and special
  • View and respect children as competent and capable
  • Promote positive, comforting and nurturing relationships with children
  • Ensure that educators and staff provide a supportive educational environment for all children and families

  • Maintain compliance with the regulations as prescribed by the regulatory authority along with all legal and statutory requirements
  • Ensure LITTLE STEP EARLY LEARNING compliance with the requirements of the Childcare Management System (CCMS), approval as a service which can receive Child Care Subsidy (CCS) on behalf of clients, Inclusion Support Subsidies, State Government funding and any other government funding received
