Job summary

Lantrak is seeking a Diesel Mechanic to join our Fleet team, reporting to the Fleet Manager. You will service, maintain and repair Lantrak's fleet of earthmoving equipment, heavy vehicles and ancillary gear, including generators and lighting towers.

The role spans workshop and field service across multiple sites, requiring pride in work, fault-finding skills and a team-first attitude. Your duties include scheduled servicing, diagnostics and repairs, with a focus on safety and quality

Qualifications

  • Trade qualification as a Diesel Mechanic is required.
  • At least three years’ experience servicing heavy diesel earthmoving equipment.
  • Experience working on earthmoving equipment.
  • Strong diagnostic and troubleshooting abilities.
  • Commitment to safety, quality workmanship and attention to detail.

Responsibilities

  • Perform scheduled servicing and preventative maintenance across earthmoving equipment and vehicles.
  • Diagnose and repair mechanical, hydraulic, transmission and engine faults.
  • Carry out breakdown repairs in workshop and field environments.
  • Complete pre-delivery inspections on new plant and equipment.
  • Identify maintenance needs and recommend corrective actions before failures occur.
  • Accurately record maintenance activities using fleet management systems.
  • Liaise with operators and Fleet team to maximise equipment availability.
  • Contribute ideas to improve fleet performance and maintenance processes.

Job description

Lantrak is seeking an experienced Diesel Mechanic to join our Fleet team.

Reporting to the Fleet Manager, you will be responsible for servicing, maintaining and repairing Lantrak's fleet of earthmoving equipment, company-owned heavy vehicles, light vehicles and ancillary equipment, including generators, lighting towers and other support assets.

This role will involve both workshop and field service work, supporting operations across a range of sites. We're looking for someone who takes pride in their work, has strong fault-finding skills, and is happy to assist wherever needed. We value team players with a no-ego attitude who are committed to keeping our fleet operating safely and efficiently.

Key Responsibilities
  • Perform scheduled servicing and preventative maintenance across Lantrak's fleet of earthmoving equipment, heavy vehicles, light vehicles and ancillary equipment

  • Diagnose and repair mechanical, hydraulic, transmission and engine faults

  • Carry out breakdown repairs in both workshop and field environments

  • Complete pre-delivery inspections on new plant and equipment

  • Identify maintenance requirements and recommend corrective actions before failures occur

  • Accurately record maintenance activities and repairs using Lantrak's fleet management systems

  • Complete inspection reports and maintenance documentation

About You
  • Trade qualified Diesel Mechanic

  • Minimum 3 years' experience working on heavy diesel equipment

  • Experience working on earthmoving equipment

  • Strong diagnostic and troubleshooting skills

  • Ability to work independently and manage competing priorities

  • Commitment to safety, quality workmanship and attention to detail

  • Positive attitude with a willingness to assist wherever required
