Cooper Civil and Crushing is seeking an experienced Diesel Mechanic to service trucks, earthmoving equipment and crushing plants. The role focuses on minimising downtime through high-quality repairs and proactive maintenance, in a hands-on workshop environment.
You will diagnose and fix diesel engines, hydraulics and electrical faults, work independently, and collaborate with the Workshop Manager to ensure safe, efficient operations across a range of equipment.

We are seeking an experienced and reliable Diesel Mechanic to join our team. This role involves working on a range of trucks, heavy machinery, and crushing equipment, supporting the day-to-day operations of the workshop.
Working alongside the Workshop Manager, you will be responsible for maintaining equipment to a high standard, minimising downtime, and ensuring repairs are completed efficiently and correctly.
This is a hands‑on position suited to someone who can take ownership of their work, think independently, and operate without constant supervision.
Diagnose, repair, and maintain diesel engines and associated systems
Service and repair trucks, earthmoving equipment, and crushing plant machinery
Conduct routine inspections and preventative maintenance
Troubleshoot mechanical, hydraulic, and electrical faults
Carry out breakdown repairs in the workshop and on-site when required
Maintain accurate service records and reports
Ensure all work is completed safely and in compliance with company policies
Work collaboratively with the Workshop Manager and team
Trade qualification as a Diesel Mechanic or Heavy Vehicle Mechanic
Proven experience working on heavy vehicles and machinery (not just light vehicles)
Strong knowledge of diesel engines, hydraulics, and electrical systems
Demonstrated fault-finding and diagnostic ability (not just parts replacement)
Ability to work independently and manage workload effectively
Reliable with consistent attendance
Current driver’s licence
Experience with crushing and screening equipment
HR/HC licence
Field service or breakdown experience
