Job summary

MacKellar Group is recruiting a Heavy Diesel Fitter for the Middlemount Mine in Queensland. You will join a permanent maintenance team responsible for a large fleet of mining equipment, with a focus on safety, reliability and productivity.

The role offers an 7/7 roster (days and nights), camp accommodation, and guaranteed long-term employment with overtime opportunities and a well-equipped workshop.

Qualifications

• Australian recognised Trade Qualification as a Heavy Diesel Fitter or Plant Mechanic.
• Experience maintaining heavy earthmoving or mining equipment.
• Commitment to safe work practices.

Responsibilities

• Preventative maintenance and scheduled servicing.
• Breakdown diagnosis and fault finding.

About the Role

Working within a high-performing maintenance team, you'll be responsible for maintaining a large fleet of heavy mining equipment to maximise safety, reliability and production.

Your day-to-day responsibilities will include:

• Preventative maintenance and scheduled servicing
• Breakdown diagnosis and fault finding
• Component replacements, rebuilds and major repairs
• Inspecting equipment and identifying reliability improvements
• Completing maintenance documentation and work orders
• Working collaboratively with operations and other trades
• Maintaining high safety and housekeeping standards

About You

You'll be a motivated tradesperson who enjoys working in a fast-paced mining environment and takes pride in delivering quality maintenance outcomes.

To be successful, you'll have:

• Australian recognised Trade Qualification as a Heavy Diesel Fitter or Plant Mechanic
• Experience maintaining heavy earthmoving or mining equipment
• Strong mechanical diagnostic and fault-finding skills
• Current Standard 11 and Coal Board Medical (or the ability to obtain)
• Current Queensland Driver's Licence
• Commitment to safe work practices and teamwork
