Job summary

Aspect Personnel is partnering with a regional Victorian council to recruit an experienced Development Engineer for a temporary assignment. You’ll join the Subdivision and Development Engineering team and provide expert assessments to shape quality development across a growing regional community.

Ideal candidates hold a Civil or Environmental Engineering degree or diploma and have development or subdivision engineering experience, preferably in local government.

Qualifications

• Degree or diploma in Civil or Environmental Engineering.
• Experience in development or subdivision engineering, ideally in local government.
• Understanding of regulations, policies and engineering standards.
• Strong communication and time management skills.

Responsibilities

• Carry out engineering assessments of town planning, subdivision and building proposals.
• Respond to development engineering referrals and enquiries within service levels.
• Support the team to manage daily priorities and workflow.
• Participate in meetings with stakeholders, developers and external authorities.
• Advise and support managers and colleagues on development engineering issues.
• Track performance against objectives and manage project risks.
• Deliver work on time, on budget and to the agreed standard.
• Write technical reports and external correspondence.

You'll join the Subdivision and Development Engineering team and report to the Lead Development Engineering. Key Responsibilities

• Carry out engineering assessments of town planning, subdivision and building proposals
• Respond to development engineering referrals and enquiries within service levels

• Take part in meetings with internal stakeholders, developers, consultants and external authorities
• Advise and support the Manager, Team Leader and colleagues on development engineering issues
• Track performance against objectives and manage project risks and issues
• Deliver work on time, on budget and to the agreed standard
• Write technical reports and external correspondence

About You

• A degree or diploma in Civil or Environmental Engineering
• Experience in development or subdivision engineering, ideally in local government
• A sound understanding of the principles behind the relevant regulations, policies and engineering standards
• Strong problem-solving skills and the ability to choose the right approach from a range of options
• Excellent time management, with the ability to prioritise a varied workload
• Strong communication skills and the ability to gain the cooperation of clients, the public and colleagues
